My friend is building me a pc.

My friend wants to build me a pc. I don't really know much about building Pc's myself, and sometimes I think he believes he knows more then he really does.

I'm currently using the alienware M14x. I can't really find anything on it to show what's inside of it, so hopefully one of you knows or knows where to look.

This is what he sent me on what PC he wants to build me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p56ncLTCJGc

I do a lot of gaming, the only games I really play is WoW, LoL, and D3. In WoW I have 70-90 fps, and LoL/D3 I sit at a steady 60 fps no matter what on MEdium settings. I don't really care for playing on High settings in say WoW, other then the water quality, texture resolution, view distance and particle effects. Nothing on ultra. How does the PC he wants to build me compare to what I'm currently using?

If what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Then I should be a god by now.

Well if he builds it to the exact specifications of that video, the processor would end up being a upgrade but the graphics card would be a downgrade. But the more important question here is, why is he wanting to build you a computer? Are you unhappy with the laptop? You say you are fine with the settings you are at and your getting 60 fps already. Im just questioning if its worth going from a $1.5k laptop to a low-mid end desktop.

The laptop isn't actually mine. I'm paying monthly for it from another friend(not a close friend) who got himself a new computer. If the one my (close friend) wants to build me is close to the one I'm currently using then I have no problem switching. He wants to build me this pc cause he is getting a decent amount of money soon, and doesn't want to see me paying for this laptop for a while cause money is tight for me.

I see, well its close spec wise. The graphics are a bit weaker but besides that is more or less the same if he opts for the 6800k CPU. I would try to up the graphics card to a 270x or somewhere around that if he will go for it.

If he's going for ~800 USD, this would be definitely better.
