    Gaming PC first build help

    Hi there, making a gaming Desktop. I've made a thread like this before, 2 years ago, but this time I actually have money to spare on it. My budget is $1700 NZD, and with the bad prices here my choices are kind of limited. My current parts are;

    ASUS R9270-DC2OC-2GD5 Radeon R9 270 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card: $284.74

    AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition: $157.52

    ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard: $158.90

    G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory F3-10600CL9S-8GBNT: ,$117

    Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD SATA 6 Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST1000DM003: $105

    Kingston Digital 120GB SSDNow V300 SATA 3 2.5 (7mm height) with Adapter Solid State Drive 2.5-Inch SV300S37A/120G: $238.97

NZXT Crafted Series Tempest 410 Elite Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case: $138

    SeaSonic X-650 SS-650KM3 Active PFC F3 650W 80Plus Gold Certified ATX Power Supply: $238.97

    Windows 7 Premium 64bit: $138.59

    Microsoft Sidewinder Keyboard: $103.39

    ASUS VE228H Monitor: $202.90

Adds up to $1650.60 NZD. I'm using PriceSpy, a New Zealand price finder site to find good prices. I know jackshit about computer parts, so I'm hoping it's fine. Do I need a fan, because the only ones that I can see recommended are expensive as sin here, or not in stock.

I was thinking of going for this fan.

Thanks in advance, a noob here!

A few things I would change.

    RAM: http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=559062
    PSU: http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=684670
    SSD: http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2074412
    HDD: http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=1282059
    Mobo: http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2135639
    CPU: http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2106974

That leaves your system about $300 cheaper than the build you have listed. You can probably upgrade the CPU/Board to a Z87 and 4670K with cooling.

Thanks for the advice, I'm open for anything that saves money.

Do you know if this will play fine on Ultra with WoW at a nice FPS?

With the 6300, definitely not. With a 4670K overclocked, yes. With a 4130, it'll do nicely on High, and decent on Ultra.

    Thanks for the info, I've had another look at things and I'm thinking I might conclude with this;

    How does it look?

I'm a little bit confused why you're going with the less powerful, more expensive setup.

Is it less powerful though? I'm still unsure on this, so if you can, I'd like to know why it's less powerful. If not that's fine though.

WoW is heavily based on single-core performance, which AMD heavily sucks at and Intel does not.

The memory is a bit spendy(as is the PSU, HDD, SSD and Motherboard) for no performance increase over the one Chazus picked.

I would also change the monitor to this : http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2296033

Same price for a 1080p IPS panel, which will help things look alot better.

Plus, a heck of alot cheaper Case : http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=1711353
If you must insist on using a non-sanctioned sitting apparatus, please consider the tensile strength
of the materials present in the object in question in comparison to your own mass volumetric density.

In other words, stop breaking shit with your fat ass.

Thanks for explaining that. The problem is with the parts that have been suggested is that it either goes out of my price range or they're not available on this site I'm buying them from. It currently has 8% off all components and free shipping, and they can build it for me, which I know is unsacred for home builders, but I don't have the skills, or the environment to make it at the moment. I'm sorry if it seems I'm difficult.

I'm kind of running the guide off of what I read over at Logical Increment's WoW build guide. Was going for the Great tier on there, since it's what I can afford for the most part.

OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit (Full Version) - OEM $159.95
KB Razer BlackWidow Tournament Mechanical Gaming Keyboard $129.95
    SSD Samsung 840 EVO Series 120GB 2.5" SATA3 SSD (MZ-7TE120BW) $149.95

Comes to $1,525.45, leaving 200 for the monitor (which you dont need to buy there) and 70 for build and installation.

Honestly, that place is crazy expensive, and you can literally save 200-300 bucks just by... spending an hour and learning to build it yourself. I understand that some people think they aren't good with that.. But its $200-$300 dollars. You could even order the parts, save the money, and have a local place build it for you.

Thanks a lot, I'll have another dwell on it.

I'd avoid any AMD CPU if WoW is the game you want some good performance in, go with any of the intel CPU's that have already been mentioned here.

Not a good idea to suggest that. Its against the rules of the forum and will get you in trouble.
