Looking for Help Building New Rig

I've been planning on building a new gaming rig and finally, thanks to the holidays, got enough money to go ahead and build one.

Since this is my first post here, I will just use the helpful layout in the sticky.

Budget - About $800, with a little leeway of about 50 or so. Under or at 800 is preferred though.
    Resolution - 1650x1080
Games / Settings Desired - I want to be able to play WoW at ultra settings while in Vale of Eternal Blossoms with more than 5 fps, as I assume WoD will make things even worse for my current rig. I also want to be able to play games like Skyrim and Fallout NV mostly modded at high settings.
Any other intensive software or special things you do - I do Photoshop, some 3D modeling and want to do some video editing as well.
    Country - US
Parts that can be reused - I can reuse my HDD, but would like some options for that as well.
Do you need an OS? - I would like to get Win 7, but can reuse my Vista (lol)
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)? - A new monitor would be good, I am open to larger resolutions as well, and some options for keyboards and mice. My speakers are still in good shape.

I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

How far are you from the OC? If you're fairly close by (i.e. 30 mins drive or so), you can pick up the last CPU/MB for $259, saving you nearly $60 on that last build and taking it under $800.

Sadly I am about 2 hours from OC, with a crappy car.

Thanks for the lists. The second one looks best for me, as I do want to get a new monitor and a new HDD. I do have a couple questions though before I make a final decision. What is the difference between the 660 and 760? And could I switch to Windows 7? I don't like what I have seen and heard of 8. It looks too much like a tablet OS.

660 has a 192 bit membus while the 760 has a 256 bit. the 760 is a more powerful card (around 10-20 fps), though the 660 will easily handle most newer games on high settings @1080p and will have no trouble to max out wow.

theres no need to go for windows 7 anymore. windows 8 is a much faster performing os and if u dont care for the tablet look, all it takes is this (see below) to make it look exactly like windows 7 and keep all the benefits.

Step 1: Launch the Desktop from the Start page by clicking on the tile labeled Desktop.

Step 2: Right-click on the Taskbar.

Tip: The Taskbar is the solid-colored strip below the wallpaper.

Step 3: Choose Properties and then the Navigation tab in the resulting box.

Step 4: Scroll down to the dialog, "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the Desktop instead of Start," and check the checkbox. Click on OK.

The next time you restart your computer, the Start tile-based page will be skipped, and you'll launch into a Windows 7-style desktop instead. Hooray for the Luddites.

Tip: While you're on the Desktop page, check out the new-in-Windows 8.1 Windows icon in the bottom-left corner. It's a Start button of sorts, and clicking on it alternates you between the tile-infested Start page and the lovable classic Desktop page.

I looked at prices for everything, and due to sales tax in my state and some items being mroe than the listed prices, I will need some cheaper options. Total for everything is over 900, sadly I don't have that much extra.

Yeah, 7.5% sales tax. I am not sure if Amazon taxes, but their prices are more than the sales tax would be.

I am thinking about waiting on getting the monitor though, and get one only if absolutely necessary.

yeah do that, if u skip the monitor for now go with the 760 and buy the monitor as soon as u can afford it

Thanks for all the help guys! Ordered everything this morning and am impatiently waiting it to get here. Had to pay more than my original amount, but rebates should help bring it down a little bit.

So parts have been coming in, been getting everything I ordered, but I noticed a problem with the mobo. There aren't enough spaces for my speakers. I have Logitech Z-5300 5.1 speakers, with green, black and orange connectors, but the mobo only has pink green and blue. I don't want to buy new speakers, is there anything I can do to make my speakers work with the new PC when I get it built?

They should work fine in stereo mode with just the green cable, if you want to use the surround you probably need to buy a surround capable soundcard.

    You can also try:
Some motherboards with 4 or 6 channels don't have the black (Rear Surround) and orange (Subwoofer and Center) jacks. These cards will use the blue jack for both line in and rear surround speakers out, and the pink jack for both mic input and subwoofer/center out. Therefore, whenever you want to use any of these jacks for a different function, you will have to manually remove one jack connector and plug in another.

I am starting to worry about the motherboard. I don't think I looked at it enough before I bought it. The audio connections are part of my worry, and also I am starting to think maybe buying the cheapest mobo wasn't the best idea. Is it too late to return it and get something better, or are my worries just due to my anxiousness to get my new pc?

Which motherboard did you end up getting?

I got the first set of options, minus the monitor and plus the HDD in the 2nd option. This is the mobo I got.

It does look like it works with what I chose, but reading the reviews makes me a bit unsettled.

Those reviews are a joke, comparing h81 vs z87 -_-
What do you 'think' is wrong?
    PM me weird stuff :3

Well with that motherboard you should be fine just plugging in your speakers in the blue and pink connectors as well, that is how it is supposed to work. What other reasons do you have to for your worries?

I am worried mostly about my 5.1 speakers. I want to be able to use them fully, and can't test anything until it is built. I am going from http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157139 to the one I linked, so I may just be having issues going to something smaller.

The speakers will work fine if you plug the black connector into the blue and orange into the pink. You should be able to find this information in the manual to your motherboard.

The motherboard only came with an installation manual, didn't see anything about the audio in there, but I will be patient and wait til I can build everything and test it. Will be thursday at the earliest.
