As the title says, do you believe people who watch anime are not normal? I've been getting this insult a lot lately and have ceased to watch anime under the circumstance that it is something most people do not like, and to fit in with society I have stopped.

The same question can be asked about pornography, sports, TV-shows and so on. For your question? I couldn't care less what others think of my hobbies. Most people do not like it cause they have never given it a go. There are some amazingly crap ones out there, and many put anime and hentai together, and most of the money comes from the flashy breast and skimpy clothing, but there are some of them that are really deep and would actually have you shed a tear, which I have never ever done for a TV-show or movie. Some can distinguish between anime and real life, others take it too serious, and then there is those inbetween. Unfortunetly, it's usually the ones that take it too serious that are the ones that stand out.
So is watching it normal? In my oppinion, and the only one I care about, yes. Do I watch the flashy breast and skimpy clothing? You know I do!

If watching anime isn't normal, then watching sports, watching reality tv, watching youtube, watching streams etc, isn't normal.
it's a hobby.

All of the people I know IRL who watch anime are usually very socially awkward, bad with women and generally quite weird...But I believe there are also a large number of people who watch it who are "normal" who I don't know about so

Most people I associate with don't care either way about anime.
Maybe you should care less what other people think of you. If you enjoy it, then watch it, if people think it's weird, tell them to go fuck themselves and find people who share common interests.

Also people that have given me shit for watching anime in the past are generally the same people that enjoy faggoty shit like Jersey Shore or Big Brother.
