Even if my pets have names... I usually call them by their race, can't wait for the day someone will call me specist (if that is even a word) for calling my dog... dog. Not sure why but it feels easier and as long as I keep the same tonality my dog will react to it.

48 posts, and no one thinks to suggest naming the dog Growlithe? For shame, internet. For shame.

We pick him up tomorrow afternoon from the rescue.

Kids want to call him Hermes.

Wife wants to call him "Castle", after the guy from the TV show.

I really wanted to call him Zenkiki!

Alpina perhaps? German car brand (-ish), known for quality. Sounds pretty modern. Fairly hairy dogs, would suit the Alpina/Alpine/snow/winter link. Not too long. Ends with a vowel. Not similar to human names or any commands as far as I know.
