    The Future of Ahn'Qiriaj

For those too new to remember this, there was a zone added back in late vanilla called Ahn'Qiriaj (south of Wilithus and west of modern day Uldum), a massive event zone with truly awesome lore behind it. Anyways, back in the day, reports came in all across Azeroth that the bug people were gonna take over the world. Obviously, that didn't go down too well with everyone else, and so they voted in Saurfang to lead an invasion into Ahn'Qiriaj to stop them. It took several long months; everyone on the server was donating the materials they mined or loot they earned towards the war effort, while the most hrdcore, badass, dedicated raiding guild on the server undertook the responsibility of creating a staff that would open the Scarab Wall. Fast forward a couple months (or years, depending on your server's self motivation), and you have several hundred players right outside the gate with thousands of NPCs and Supreme Commander Saurfang as they invade Ahn'Qiriaj, ultimately culminating lag fest of truly epic proportions and an awesome world battle. Two raids were added. It was a truly memorable event.

Then Cataclysm came along, and the entire zone got striped down. That massive war between the Qiriaj and the Might of Kamildor? Gone. Saurfang with his incredible mind control glitch and ridiculous crit videos of him cleaving mobs and insta killing them (hence, where his populrity came from)? Gone. Everything in Ahn'Qiriaj was removed. Only thing there now are two instance portals to the raids. Other then that, the zone is empty.

So, what will Blizzard do to the zone now?

Er, what? The zone isn't empty... All of the AQ stuff is still there if you'd like to do it. Nothing changed with Cata. The only thing that isn't available anymore is deputizing people for carapaces.

Spoiler Alert: The zone did change; All of the quests, war crates, tanks, and NPCs (except for the two druids outside spawn) were completely removed. The zone is dormant except for the druids and portals.

TL;DR, its a zone with walls, two 8 year old raids and two NPCs. Nothing more, nothing less.

That happened after the event was over, then. Not with Cata. I've been there many many times and nothing has changed recently.

I wouldn't call an entire zone with a huge quest hub and stuff to do 'dormant'. You can still do the summons and rep and repeatables.

The old god is dead or asleep so unless they wanna bring him back which i doubt then the zone has no significance not now not prolly ever

Unless blizz does another 1-60 revamp which i highly doubt they ever will then the zone is dead except only for transmoggers and nostalgists like me

    Really? Wasn't Cata? Interesting...

Regardless, its still a four square mile zone with some walls, two druids and a pair of instance portals. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's... actually a lot more. I'm not sure why you keep skimming over the point I'm making. There's plenty to do there. Is there a serverwide war going on? No. But it's a complete zone with quest lines, quest hubs... HOnestly, it's got more stuff than a lot of other zones, due to the rep, summons, and other goodies.

But there are no other goodies (unless you count loot from the raids and a sleeping dragon stashed into the back of Kamildor). Unless I'm blind, theres pretty much nothing here now besides what's already been mentioned.

Perhaps it might get overhauled in the future to bring tother all f the Qiriaj and their offshoots or how what happened to them after the War of the Shifting Sands.

The war has ended, the Qiraji were annihilated. Ahn'Qiraj is now an empty pile of ruins, with nothing but maybe a few rats running around. Silithus is a barren wasteland and with the Qiraji threath gone, there's no reason to hang out in there.

Ahn'Qiraj will stay empty, there's no reason to add anything there. And Blizzard wont to Gates of AQ style world events anywhere else anymore.

Could it be that you already completed them?

I'm literally standing there, right now, on a character that hasn't been there. I Just wrangled up about 40 twilight texts while waiting. Theres about 10-15 quests around me at the quest hub. The PVP counter is still active for running the 'sand', all the quest mobs are there still. The entire zone has pretty much everything it had before, post-war. There's lots to do.

    besides what's already been mentioned.
That's kind of like saying $100 is useless because it's nothing better than its face value. Lots of stuff has been mentioned. So there's not 'nothing'

Were they? I was still able to get the Twilight Gear last time I was there a few months back.

The zone is dead so unless the goblins wanna bug spray the rest of the Silithus bugs that scuttle around and turn the place into a holiday resort then the place will remain dead!

I guess many people do not understand OP. He does not speak about silithus. He speaks about zone in-front and behind scarab wall. It's formally not silithus but separate zone. And there's indeed nothing but 2 portals and 2 (or 3?) npcs.

    Wrong zone people.

Ahn Qiriaj is a dead zone. No one goes there any more. I've passed by several, many times of the past couple years, I have never seen a player in that zone. Not much reason to ride my tank around there if no ones around to see it.

And a clarification: I am talking about Ahn Qiriaj. And Ahn Qiriaj is an empty zone. No, not Silithus. Ahn Qiriajs: The Fallen Kingdom, and its empty.

That used to be apart of Silithus until blizz separated the two in cata
