MoP got beta about 4 months into 4.3, of course it's not way too soon unless they're thinking of making 5.4 10-12 months. Beta's also last 5-6 months, and we're already 5 months into 5.4. So make that 10-12 months of SoO. 6 million people will be left at the end of the patch, that's my prediction.

They need to hurry it up then! And I kinda have to agree with what a few others have said. Something must have happened that set them back (not GC leaving) else we'd prolly have beta by now. I DO think a shorter beta is possible but that can only be an assumption with nothing to back it other than the very slim amount of knowledge we have from blues and blizzcon.
If they say, they are trying to release (much) faster, this sounds like a promise for the com.
And if they are asked at blizzcon "do you xpect to release at the same cycle", they answer " we will try to do it much faster", and again "so it would be a summer release?" "possible, maybe faster" - so it has to be at latest Juny.
But Juny is just 8 months aways from this statement, so the development has to be in a late stage - maybe not at the beta, but near the beta.
And if they dont know what and how to talk about it, than they should just stfu.

Worst case scenario, WoD will arive Jan or Feb 2015.
Yes, 2015.
This is highly unlikely, but I'm not saying that it is not possible. The beta is far, far away. Blizzard said WoD was further in development than MoP, and people can expect it to arrive sooner than they expected. Blizzard stated they moved everyone from Titan to WoD. (I guess these silly statements were just lies to create hype. As usual.)
There will be no new races and classes. When WoD launches, it will have about 5 dungeons with 2 re-skinned Vanilla ones. TBC has around 14. 14!
Can someone tell me what Blizzard is actually working on? Designing more mounts for the store? Focusing on earning more money? Lods of emone.
Really, like, what on earth are they doing?

"The sword is mightier than the pen, and considerably easier to kill with."

I agree overall.
From what we see WoD is taking stupidly long, not at all shorter than MoP, despite all their smart-ass teases like "hey, we seem to be farther ahead", and it is nothing impressive in terms of content.
The only saving grace is that they might (yes, merely "might", we've seen too many idiotic teases which turned out to be empty) be working *seriously* on the expansion after WoD *in parallel* with WoD, with the idea of releasing that next expansion *shortly* after WoD - like a year after. If they release the next expansion two years after, or if they release earlier but it won't have as much content - and yes, I think there is a good chance of that happening - then they really would be one of the most inept yet most pretentions punks in the software business I have seen to date.
Another opportunity could be NOT to say possibly sooner than summer. If Blizzard says we try to do it sooner ( and this time sooner means about 2(Mid July) - 5(April) months ) than they should do it in this time ffs. Its not a grow up company with no experiance and they have a lot of experience! More than other devs ,at least in MMO.
If you get a reference from your last employer and there is always a " he tries to.. " ( e.g. he tries to come on time.. he tries to do the job as required.. he tries to be nice to his collegues.. etc ) then it is a testimony of a very very bad employee..
So compared to Blizzard " we try this and we try that", Blizzard has to be the worst company ever ....

Fanboy (Fanboi):
1. A term used towards someone when a person disagrees with the said someone on a subject, person, place, thing, company, or product line and they are not smart enough to debate their counterpoints or facts, so they resort to childish name calling in hopes of shaming others into silence and thus them winning through dominance.* 2. A term used as a taunt/peer pressure technique to shape popular opinion through shame and humiliation.

Beta will be announced shortly after Blizzard's Q4 Call. You guys will see...
Beta is going to happen overnight and it will be a damn surprise!

It's funny how fast people forget that this is how it always is with Blizzard when it comes to betas. We hear nothing at all forever then out of nowhere "Hey guys, we just launched the beta". Especially true since it appears that they have stopped doing the Friends and Family Alphas due to rampant leaks (no game since Cata has had one). At least before that we would have reports of the Alpha starting up and know that beta was not far off.
I found I enjoyed the game significantly more when I stopped paying attention to all the people on the forums telling me how much I am supposed to hate itAll this complaining is simply further proof that Blizzard could send each and every player a real-life wish-granting flying unicorn carrying a solid gold plate of chocolate chip cookies wrapped in hundred dollar bills, and someone would whine that Blizzard sucks for not letting them choose oatmeal raisin.

I'm still holding out/praying for a June/July Release. They can't afford to wait until after August, the amount of subscribers that have bled through already... The conference call will reaffirm or diminish my wishes.
