What does our age have to do with the poll?
I used to watch a few awards ceremonies in full (brit awards), but nowadays I just watch small clips/highlights on youtube. I might record highlights of music awards on tv if there are some performances worth a watch, but apart from that the only ceremony I watch entirely is the film BAFTAs. It's the only major film ceremony that is in it for the art, whereas the Academy Awards are more about commercialism and ratings.
Isn't it ironic how education is important, yet people forget all about it when they visit the internet?
Most people don't care and don't watch, however for the rest of people, it's a conversation piece. People like to feel a part of something, similar to sporting events. They may not be a part of it, but god damn if they don't want to talk about the decisions and their opinions on it.
I don't really care but there are some performances I would like to see that were done there.
I'm 21 and never cared of them in the slighest
It's too political for me. Art is subjective anyway so how do you really determine what is the best of anything. Today's music is a joke for the most part aside for a couple of artist out there most of it I could do without. The Oscars are way political, whenever there is a process that one has to follow in order to get on the ballad you know its contrived.
I find them a bit meaingless. Take the oscars, for example. A small "academy" of old men whose tastes seem to differ from my own, decides what are the "best" films and so on (which almost always turn out to be big piles of garbage films)
That's why I laugh when I see films hype themselves based on an actor having won an oscar. I didn't get to vote on that actor being better than any other, why should I care that some old American men think he was?
You must show no mercy, Nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you: For your greatness will silence them all!
