Looking for a little help with WeakAuras.

I've recently been wanting to find a better way to manage my DoTs with thunderclap on my Warrior and my poisons spread by Fan of Knives on my Rogue. Now I can't really just rely on the debuff on my current target because they will generally be refreshed from the fight, so I'm wondering if there's a way to make WeakAura start a count down after I hit one of these abilities.

So, like when I hit thunderclap is there a way I can cause a trigger that is separate from the target or a cooldown that just countdown to zero until it runs out or I hit the ability again?

You can use that ^
Or you can use the Combat Log trigger. Can't log on right now, but it's something like; Cast Finished, source Player, Thunderclap/Fan of Knives, and then under timed put however many seconds you want.
