Is the GX70 destroyer the best gaming laptop you can get atm?

    Screen Size 17.3 inches
    Max Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels
Processor 2.5 GHz AMD A Series
    RAM 12 GB DDR3
    Hard Drive 1024 GB SATA
Graphics Coprocessor AMD Radeon R9 M290X
Graphics Card Ram Size 2000 MB
    Wireless Type 802.11bgn
Number of USB 2.0 Ports 2
Number of USB 3.0 Ports 3

Graphics card is apparently way better than the 765m which every other 1400$ laptop has so that's a big bonus, however I'm alarmed at the processor being AMD, does it really matter on a laptop since you aren't going to be running crysis 3/witcher 3 on ultra 4k resolution?

How strong is this laptop? Can it run WoW on 25ms on ultra(while frapsed) at 60fps? can it run path of exile on ultra? dota 2? perhaps heroes of the storm later on? skyrim on high? all 1080p of course, will it be at 60fps?

Yeah yeah a 1000$ desktop would be 50% stronger, but that's not the point.

No SSD and an AMD CPU, I'd say it is pretty far from being the best.

    http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.p...el_name=NP9570 is way better.
    Intel i5-3570K @ 4.7GHz | MSI Z77 Mpower | Noctua NH-D14 | Corsair Vengeance LP White 1.35V 8GB 1600MHz

A norwegian company called multicom can deliver a laptop with these specs:
    1x Intel Core i7-4960X 3,60GHz Six Core, 15MB
    2x nVidia GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5 in SLI
    4x 8Gb = 32GB DDR3 SO-DIMM 1600MHz
    2x INTEL SSD 530 Series 240GB - 540MB/s read, 490MB/s write
    1x 1TB SATA 7200rpm HDD
    1x 17,3" Full-HD 1920x1080 NTSC 90% Glare

Pretty sure it beats most laptops out there, but it comes with a price. Aprox. $5700

He probably meant best value for dollar, because obviously you can always go better than AMD in performance.

    Topic limit.

I meant to say best laptop under 1500$, I can't spend THAT much on a laptop, yours is almost a grand more expensive.

Would also like to know how that laptop would run the games I pointed out.

Add in diablo 3, FF14, guild wars 2 on the list. I want to know just how well this will run. I'll buy it in about 2-3 months when I needa work, I hope the price drops from 1.3k to 1.2k or so by then.

Take a look at http://www.xoticpc.com/custom-gaming...118_96_98.html , there are plenty of good choices there with better performance.

Checked my price limit, the 1500$ is full of really weak 765/770m cards and the first one with a 780m costs 1600$.

300$ increase is pretty big for a slightly better card, not sure how big of a diff the processor makes though.

In real world terms considering the games you listed the 770M is more than enough GPU power especially coupled to a quad core Intel CPU. Don't get me wrong, The R9 M290X is the best performing mobile GPU but it is not going to offer any improvements in WOW over the 770M.

Just wanted to prepare myself, the new consoles have been released so there should be some big jumps late 2014 onwards and I don't want to be gimped because of my GPU.

I don't think an AMD cpu would bottleneck me but I'm not an expert here.

This should effortlessly run wow 25mans at 60fps right? or is the processor too weak?

On WoW specifically AMD will restrict you compared to intel.
Friendship is like peeing on yourself, everyone can see it, but only you get to feel the warmth it brings.

It is quite simple really, Any core i series CPU from ivy or haswell will be around 50% better single thread performance than even the top end AMD cpu's. This goes for moblile and desktop CPU's and to buy anything other than intel for WoW would be a waste of money. You wont get 60fps constant fps in raids or cities even with a $5k laptop but you can limit the fps drops to the mid 30's in intense enviroments by using an intel cpu. The AMD might not get brought to its knees but it will dip below 20 fps in a 25 man raid even with high settings never mind ultra.

As long as you get a GTX 765M or better GPU with an intel CPU your laptop should be able to do what you want. There is no way you could do what you want with a mobile AMD CPU at this time.

mmm actually there might be some confusion here on my part.

The gx70(2013) has that shitty locked 2.5ghz 5750m CPU, however the gx70destroyer(2014) can be turbod to 3.5ghz

Does that make it practically equal to the intel cpu, not that great at tech, hell, my desktop right now is a 2.66ghz dual core with a HD3870 it can barely play shit.

Intel i7 4700MQ has about double the single threaded performance of that 3.5GHz AMD CPU.
If your main game is WoW stay far away from AMD CPUs, it is really that simple.

There is literally no AMD mobile CPU that can handle Wow & Fraps in raids right now. Something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834233024 is what you should be considering.
