This is what WoW looks like in 640 × 480 (with really low settings)

A little while ago I posted a thread with a request for help on how to get WoW running in 640 × 480 screen resolution. I managed to get it running in this resolution not long ago, and I decided to share a few screenshots on how it looks. I play in fullscreen on a 1280 × 1024 monitor, but I've been able only to scale these proportionally from 640 × 480 to 1280 × 960, but it's well representative of how the game looks in this low resolution (at least for me). Config.wtf settings are posted below the screenshots.

Reminds me of how it looked on my 12 yr old laptop... that was quite low spec when it was new, without thinking of what it looked like last year when I tried it for giggles!
Friendship is like peeing on yourself, everyone can see it, but only you get to feel the warmth it brings.

To see what it looks like.

Texture and world detail wise it still looks better than the min settings I had back in Classic.

Thank you OP for making my eyes bleed with that resolution though. My eyes could not focus =(

Imagine having to play like that since Wrath (technically TBC, but it only really became an issue in Wrath when I had to reduce settings as much as possible) until mid-MoP.

"This is what WoW looks like at 640x480 stretched out to a massively-higher resolution," I think you meant to say in the title.

At actual 640x480 (without stretching) the game actually looks livable, but this looks horrendous.

The better DS games don't look like that.

It reminds me a bit of how the Game Cube port of Ocarina of Time looked, with the blured textures and sharp model edges. *shudder*
Your rights as a consumer begin and end at the point where you choose not to consume, and not where you yourself influence the consumed goods.

Translation: if you don't like a game don't play it.

aye, I meant 3DS, and only in the sense that you have unsmooth edges. Yea, some are low on polygon count. but others have good videos sequences.

For 1/4 or so of LK I had to play with a bad onboard GPU that corrupted 70% of the textures, so I got to play in Acid Trip Land for quite a few months.

Back in WotLK I had to play on low settings with the lowest resolution until I convinced my parents to buy a new graphics card. It looked similar to the pics however I was forced to uncheck a box that removed some textures from the game. For example half of the undead race's face would be missing, and the shoulder pads on my warrior were just balls of light.

I played Vanilla through Wrath with a PC that had an on-board graphics card, and the lowest settings remind me of this. I actually liked it because it looked like an old school video game. Weird, I know. Thanks for posting this.

I kinda like it? Something 'bout it feels... homey. Makes me think of Playstation games, like Dewprism. I was expecting it to look worse!

Brings me back to my wrath days playing on a 2005 laptop. Also on a related funny note, my current monitor (which is a TV) cant go under 800x600!
