its okay, someone updated the look of snowflake, to be more in line with a 90s design.

I love heelvsbabyface, he's just roasting marvel comics right now in just saying what needs to be said. And he wants the comic industry to survive, which is now struggling to keep comic book stores open.

was looking for some white noise so I watched it and Jesus the lack of self awareness on these people. at one point heelvsbabyface says that kids have to go though all kinds of confusing stuff around puberty and its hard because they don't know if there parents will accept them or that they have interest that society might not like so they cant express them self's, and then in the next breath says marvel should stop trying to force it and that teens should just bottle every thing up till there adults and let his fester.

I'm really not sure how some one could have such a good understanding of what people go though and why they want to make content to lighten that on others, and then comply miss the point.

Fixed Snowlake looks a lot better, she looks like a comics hero actually capable of attracting some readers if being put on the book's cover

Even if the bag is limited to her alone, this is pure comedic relief character territory. Not to mention the character design looks bizarre. Drawing her with a tighgap the size of her head while giving her the silhouette of a sea-cow also puts her more into weird fetish territory or desperate wishfullfilment. Then there is the whole angle about being too young for doing vigilante work.. I mean.. ??? I might have missed it, but is the SRA back in place?
That backpack doesn't hold any deus ex machina within, it's just full of high-sugar snacks. Nothing more, nothing less.

my partner is nb and they hate these new characters.

usually im all for inclusion but this looks like it received no input from anyone in the actual community they were trying to attract and even the FUCKING CREATOR keeps calling snowflake she in the intro video.

one of the main things about being nb? nb's go by they/them.

these new characters look EXACTLY like the parody bullshit anti-sjw create when they get all angy about inclusion.

    also "internet gas" really?

Man even 90's Marvel wasn't that risque, she makes Pysclocke look covered lol. She looks like something from Jungle Fantasy than something from Marvel... if the makers of Jungle Fantasy did super heroes lol.

Also Snowflakes problem wasnt just the look, it was the name and what it was supposed to represent and how it represented non binary people really badly as well as it being a mockery more than a representation. Making it more 'pleasing' on the eyes makes little difference. :P

Eh, I don't need a teen to look like a 21 year old porn actress either, though I welcome her buldge being smaller than her brother's ... Also platform shoes remain an eternal sin of our species, I fear we will never be able to atone for this crime.

Errrm, anyway. There is a fairly wide range between attractive/pleasant to look at and flat out slutty. The most fascinating thing is how Marvel manged to to piss off/annoy everyone with these horrendous designs. That is kinda rare these days.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.

Its hilarious how in this, both sjws and regular comic fans are both annoyed by this. Sjws feel marvel is taking the piss out of them, while regular comic fans are pissed off seeing the fav comic company stooping to this level.

The only ones who actually like these characters so far are trolls.

Whoever drew this needs a few lessons in anatomy and posture.

dude, you should look at comic artists from the 90s.

Sure this was Rob Liefelds work, but he was hired on again and again by comic companies in the 90s. And male characters didn't have it any better.

You could argue that liefleds work was hyper sexualizing characters to the point of parody itself, but at least there was a ridiculous charm to what he made back then.

It's not about hypersexualizing (which I don't like but don't mind) or weird poses. Liefelds Cap, on the other hand, same deal. Blatant disregard for anatomy and posture. For the 'Snowflake':

    - hands to small, especially the right one
    - arms of different length
    - parallel legs with the heels together with a tilted hip, resulting in the left leg being longer than the right one.
    - drastically different size breasts, which does happen in nature, but seeing the general style the artist went for I assume was not intended

And yea, Liefeld could have used some courses as well. At least the Captain America one you linked.

The 'Glory' (?) cover, on the other hand, is a pretty decent piece of art. Yes, she has the stereotypical revealing clothes and figure, but the pose is right, the proportions are right, etc. Except for maybe her right leg which could be a bit beefier.

Honestly, the more I see of this run, the more I'm starting to think Marvel are fucking with us. NO ONE likes these characters, and they almost seem like they were created solely for the purpose of creating backlash.

    Yep.
I forget who said it at the moment, but "controversy sells." And I think this is what they're going for.

    Bingo.

This is an 8 issue limited run...

Yet it's had more collumn inches in the past week or so than anything Marvel has done in a while.

    That says it all, really.

Back in the old days, there was an issue with companies disregarding emailed comments as not real since they required less effort. As email became the main method of communication along with message boards, companies began interacting more with customers. Of course, they do need to realize that most customers don't actually enjoy it when they get what they ask for, but at least there was a path there.
Nowadays, twitter and online insular communities get a lot of attention from companies that do not understand that those places don't actually buy their product anyway. You can't boycott something you never would have bought!

Anyway, the point is that like toddlers, companies nowadays don't understand that negative attention is not a good thing. People talking about your products isn't always a great thing. It's like they figure if they get a lot of press, the fans will come back to show their support for other lines or something?

There's also a tendency nowadays to think that when an initiative failed, it was because you didn't do it far enough!

For this specific comic, I wonder how much of it is because you have these old guys trying to interpret modern society by reading twitter and assuming that's a majority of people?

That is the other side of the coin, yeah. I'd LIKE to think that it's Marvel fucking with people to get press.

More likely, it's an out of touch boardroom, making a "Woke" comic by commity and falling on it's ass.

Either way, I'll not be reading this book, so I don't really care. I'll stick to my usual pull list, for now.

No, no there's wasnt, the man couldn't draw.

I do give Liefeld credit for helping creating Deadpool, but even Deadpool only got good once he was out of Liefelds hands :P

At least if you want to prove your point link better artists of the 90's

These were some of my favourites from growing up in the 90's

    Joe Madureira
    Jim Lee
    George Perez
    Salvador Larroca
    Chris Bachalo
    Alan Davis
    Ludo Lullabi

Jim Lee draws beautifully. The one negative thing I'll say about him is that he only draws two people. 1 male and 1 female. Same faces, Same Bodies. The only difference between his Clark Kent and his Bruce Wayne is that Clark wears glasses.

Liefeld, on the one hand, might be able to draw okay when he wants to...but on the other he's really fucking lazy so most of his art comes out looking like shit.

This is one of my favourite panels:

Look at Feral leaning against the doorframe. Follow her legs down to the ground...whooops. I mean, there's so much on this page that can (and has been) dissected...but I think that first panel is just so encapsulating of how shitty an artist Liefeld is

As far as Liefeld "creating" Deadpool...there's a funny anecdote that Fabian Nicieza (Deadpool's other creator) has where when Liefeld first submitted the character design for Deadpool...he looked at it and said "This is Deathstroke from Teen Titans". That's why Fabian named him "Wade Wilson"(Deathstroke's name is "Slade Wilson")

yeees yes yes, I'm a fan of jim lee and alan davis' work, they were good artists. I meant that because of artists like Leifeld the kind of hyper sexual dimorphism from the 90s and how much he was spread around everyone saw the way he drew and it even seemed to rub off on some artists at the time.

someone on twitter took marvels awful designs and re-designed them with some actual thought and care.

    https://twitter.com/PsydSketchy

I'd actually give these characters a chance if they were like this.

when fans for free can design characters better then an industry head owned by disney..
