Angry Is it me or are forums filled with bitter people?

I'm not really sure if this is the right place or if it's even appropriate for the forums but I need to get this off my chest.

Why are you all so bitter? I know it's not everyone but the vast majority of people on this forum are angry about something or another. I'm new to this forum as my post count will tell you but that still hasn't stopped me from seeing the seething bitterness.

It's like you're playing the game for the sake of playing. If you don't enjoy it you need to exit to the left.

I for one still find this game well worth my time and sub.

    I don't know, I never tasted them.
I don't think this matters nearly as much as you think it does.

Is this a meta post about the OP? Discussion forums are for discussion. Discussions can get heated when two opposing views collide. I'm pretty thankful that MMOC isn't a hugbox.

Unfortunately, that's what mankind has seemingly chosen the internet for. Basically, it's got three major uses: porn, scam and frustration venting. It's somewhat disappointing, because in theory, you'd think of message boards as of places where people with similar interests discuss various aspects of their hobby or occupation, but in practice, a big part of it is random morons making some random gripe they have accessible to a supposedly reachable audience. I think the internet naturally attracts attention seeking and helplessly miserable people. Guess there's nothing that can be done about it.

Of course it varies, dependent on the topic. I visit some other forums that are nearly free from whine and bickering. But that's because those boards deal with professional work and the people there are hard-working and serious adults. A site like MMO-C will naturally be the exact opposite, being a video game site. It's only natural that most people here are younger, and more of the neckbeard and geek type. Certain personal instabilities and major issues with life priorities is just a given around here.

Well, think of it as a lunch-party. 5 likes potatoes, 5 likes spaghetti, 10 like rices, and 1 likes salat. So the chef chooses to serve rice (because of the majority will be satisfied) and potatoes because that is what he likes himself, that leave 6 people to dislike the lunch.

I think there are very few people that like every single detail about a game someone else made, because there will always be some difference of opinion. It will never happen that a game will do everything right, to everyone.

MMO-C is the depressing retirement home of world of warcraft. This is where all the old and retired players come to die.

The world is filled with bitter people, listening and reading about bitter people creates more bitter people. It's an endless cycle.

Same goes for being happy, but it's harder to be happy then to be bitter.

Forums today are very much complain/vent destinations. Imo mmo champ has plenty of civil realistic posters, but as always the complainers rage hard and give the impression there is more of them than there actually is. Usually any type of change to the game spurs them to come out and demand to be heard.

It's important to distinguish between bitterness and passion. A lot of WoW players are very passionate about the game and want very specific things from their gaming experience. When the game doesn't meet their criteria, they find other passionate but disappointed people and they all complain at each other. Hence, bitterness in forums. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're bitter people, just that they take the game more seriously than others.

Kinda like the Kodo graveyard in Desolace pre-Cata-revamp, right?

You can always tell who is a basement dweller with little life experience by the tone of their opinions.

Too often do I see this phrase as an excuse for people being arrogant and generally uncouth.

    Stay classy.

It is for most of us. I still play but I'm not relevant to any degree in PVE or PVP anymore. I just use WoW as a chatbox these days.

'cause people are dicks which then gets magnified by the fact that no one knows who the fuck they are leading to them becoming more bitter and cynical then they would have been otherwise.. That or they stepped on 9 inch nail this morning.
