Now that I've thought about it, I think it's too crazy to believe that in 5 years or so, there will be thousands of people coming home from work, putting on their Occulus and ultra-high definition headphones, strapping themselves into a Virtuix Omni treadmill, and controlling their game with their body movements as captured by a video camera or Kinect sensor. There might even be people who will do this in games like Eve-Online, and actually make a real life living off of playing in Eve, and they will just live in the video game universe.

I wish I could now find a picture I saw recently. I think it was a joke about occulus, ect. It was a picture of an empty dark room with a "junkie" looking guy sitting on a dirty bed in an empty room with goggles on and computer screen open next to him with an imagery of a happy happy rainbow land.

There is this sub story in Sword Art Online about a girl who was born with HIV and has lived her life in the hospital, and will die there. She inhabits the virtual game realms doing shit via the VR set up the hospital net has. Why would a future where that can happen be so bad?

Meh, VR is far from mainstream anytime soon. I do think gaming should continue to evolve I'm not completely sold into wearing a box on my head even the 3D craze seems stifled to me. Sony announced their VR set and no sign of a 2014 release or price point so let's wait and see.

I used it. It feels weird at first, but after half an hour of running around on it, you completely forget that your even strapped into one. It's very immersive, especially when combined with an Occulus.

And no, unless you mean gold farmers there really isn't a way to 'make a living' doing this beyond the possibility of a few of the highest/best players of each game, depending on ad revenue on their streams.
