Replacing seven-year old (deceased) rig, need second opinion.

My faithful gaming rig finally failed on me after seven years of service. So I am building a new one.

I came here to get a second opinion and to make sure all of these parts are compatible.

    Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138366
    Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500294
    Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500294
    Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819113343
    Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148840
    Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001906
    Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811148048
    CD Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151266
Other: Windows 8.1 Pro, OEM disc.

I'm investing in to do more PC gaming- Elder Scrolls Online, for example, but it's also just my everyday computer. I'm also happy with my current price, around $780 with shipping.

If you can shell out around 80$ you can get the 660.. Which is like a TON more powerful, I would really consider it.. The 650 is good, but it'll last for like, a year. At that :c

This setup is six different flavors of Nope, unfortunately. The only thing in there I might recommend is.. Windows, and maybe the CD drive? The memory also isn't included (you linked the GPU twice). This might be better serving.

EDIT: Pcpartpicker loading reeeeally slowly. Will take a moment

Chazus, I enjoy your posts... refreshing, honest, and a tad blunt, but not too much

Chazus, can you tell me why it's six flavors of Nope? I don't quite understand.. I haven't built a machine in seven years, I'm kinda outta the loop.

I was just going to show you what to go with for a better price, but the website is like.. partially offline, apparently. Otherwise I'd have a build for you by now.

    In the meantime...
CPU - AMD is largely not great for gaming atm. If you want to get into the $50 range, a Pentium G3220 or Celeron G1820 would serve you better. The board is also AMD, but Biostar has always been pretty notorious for having terrible quality, especially at the lower end. Logisys makes incredibly cheap (quality) cases that are flimsy, and their power supplies are firecrackers with wires coming out of it, effectively. The GPU.. There are simply better ones for the price point. The ram is more expensive than I'd like. $10 can make or break something on a budget build.. And $780 isn't exactly 'extreme budget' yet we're still having to cut corners on the CPU. The monitor is incredibly expensive for a non-IPS, 21" screen. I wouldn't pay more than $100 for that. I'd recommend a decent 24" viewsonic for like $130.

Here we go. This setup comes out significantly better for pretty much the same price.

    Memory: GeIL EVO POTENZA 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($62.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($56.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card ($153.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master Elite 430 ATX Mid Tower Case ($29.99 @ Newegg)

Also for the OP, I'd recommend signing up for ShopRunner, then you'll get free shipping on most items from Newegg, if they aren't free to begin with

They have a free 90 day trial period, and if you use them like 3 times, you get it 'free' for a year (not sure why they even charge for it).

Also you might consider purchasing with a Newegg Preferred Account... you can get interest free payments for 6-12 months depending on how much you purchase at one time. Great way to buy a bit more if you can afford it later.

Ok, that sounds good, chazus. Does ATX type matter, though, or does it all fit just the same?

I usually don't recommend micro-ATX for OC systems, but you aren't doing that with this setup, so its all good.
