Help; Using an internal HDD as external.

Hey there, I had already created this thread but I can not find it.. looks like I didn't quite "create it", so here it comes again.

I have an internal HDD, Samsung HD103UJ 1TB.

I have a SATA to USB cable.

I want to use the HDD... yet simply plugging it to the USB port won't work.

    What else do I need?

It shows up on devices and printers, yet I can not open it. I have changed it's letter but it won't do anything.

you need a HDD enclosure like the one i use, most let you use a standard usb cable or esata cable to connect it once you put it together.

Search "Vantec NexStar 3 3.5 SATA to USB" This is basically the one i have, the driver disk isn't needed for windows 7 and up

You have a 3.5" drive, you need more power than the USB connection can provide (it's made for a 2.5" laptop drive). You'll need an external enclosure or a USB adapter that includes an additional power adapter.
