Got to be pretty naive to get yourself in that situation in the first place.

I don't care since I assume most of those girls knew they were getting filmed and/or getting their pictures taken.

I think revenge porn is 100% fine. You can't really fault someone if you send them naked pictures/video or let them video tape you having sex, and then they put it on the internet after you break up.

We live in the world of social media sharing, where people talk about how big their shits were or how jealous they are of their friends stuff. Facebook statuses are updated constantly with the most inane garbage that no one should ever know about you, yet it's accessible worldwide by anyone. Tweets are sent out about the most random and mundane shit, as if we're all supposed to be impressed by your run of the mill life and your average Joe opportunities.

We get to see how risque you are with your almost nude instagram pictures! If only you showed a little more skin!

Sorry, but I have zero sympathy for anyone who knowingly allowed nude pictures or video be taken by anyone else, with or without consent.

If youre going to do it, tape would be the best way, well film actually, as the average Joe isnt going to know how to convert 8mm film to a digital format to put on the internet.

If someone is that paranoid about it in the first place...it's probably best to just not do it.

I find it very strange how posters in this topic advocate trust above all else even calling being careful "paranoid". In a topic about combating revenge porn. What.

Let me break it down for you. You trust someone when you know them well. It does not mean blindly following their every whim. If i know that my SO won't do such a thing even if we break up, I have no problem making a video if he/she wants it. If i know my SO is prone to fits of anger and likes to get back at people, i probably won't make one.

"You will not make a porn tape with me? DO YOU NOT LOVE ME? WE ARE OVER!" If that kind of menial thing would ruin the trust in your relationship and the relationship itself, well, it was coming anyways.

And if you don't know your SO very well yet, maybe you just met and decided to go out on a whim, maybe it is not the time to bring out the really kinky stuff yet.

In the end - if you misjudge someone, that is a lesson to yourself "i now know i am a poor judge of character, ill learn from it, conduct myself better and my next relationship will be better and more stable".

Also, times like this if a genie appeared before me and said i have one wish, i would probably not think it through and just blurt out - I wish the concept of victim blaming wouldn't exist. If someone else does a bad thing to you, punishing them is only the first step - nowadays people with their lax lifestyles are forgetting to improve themselves, and when others discuss how to learn from their mistakes and suggesting bettering oneself to them as well just scream "victim blaming!" and go back to life of complacency. If humanity ever achieves a world of no crime, it will be not because all the criminals were punished, but because there are no more people to exploit.

Most people aren't comfortable being recorded naked while asleep, for that video to then end up on the internet. It doesn't have to be hardcore porn for it to have a devastating affect on peoples lives.

If you chose to make a gift of porn to your SO... that's your choice. Don't be surprised if they use the gift in a manner you didn't think they would later on down the road.

People need to realize that when/if they break up, it's probably due to the person being a DIFFERENT person than they were originally.

You don't meet a guy, decide he's the sweetest guy in the world, give him tons of porn featuring you, and then suddenly break up with him because "Oh, well, I was looking for someone a little less charming." No, you or your SO have changed as people and drifted apart. Depending on how well you both handle the breakup, it's obvious that one party or the other may try to "get back" at you.

I'd never give my wife pictures or videos of me that I wouldn't be OK with her having forever. I love her dearly, and hope we don't go through a divorce but if we do, I know it's because one of us have changed. She or I one wouldn't be the same people we are now and since I don't know the person she may become, I'm not comfortable giving that possible future person access to something that could be so damaging.

Anybody who tells you they need some video/photos of you in the nude to keep themselves happy or whatever is someone you REALLY don't want to be with.
This is the smartest thing in this thread.

why do we live in this world where youngsters and teens expect no consequences for things? you do something you regret.. and now somebody ELSE is at fault?...

people need some goddamn accountability, if you get your business out for somebody. you need to accept that it can be seen by ANYBODY. just because you think that person smells of roses at that moment in time.

    absolutely ridiculous..

I think the only way to have a law to stop this from happening is to focus on the malicious intent towards the other person rather than focus on the privacy/nude photos, so instead of trying to legislate against "revenge porn" we should probably be legislating against malicious actions against a previous partner.

Both are still really hard to prove, you can claim pretty much anything, that you left your phone somewhere and someone took them, that someone accessed your computer, that someone stole your dropbox password, unless they can pinpoint some IP address to the guy/girl at the point of share there is basically nothing that can be done, also at the speed which people share stuff online, when you find your picture on some random forum it has probably been shared 1000 times already.

Basically my advice is, dont allow pictures/videos to be taken if you dont accept the risk that it might be shared online, if things go south.

That or when you allow yourself to be photograph also take photographs so if they post yours you can post theirs :P

Throwing a lawsuit at the people is a great start that should be done, but i'm thinking jail time should be thrown in as well.
Depending on how grievously it was done, anything from a stiff fine to imprisonment, I'd say.

It's not about it being everyone else s fault, it's about making a huge mistake, but not being punished disproportionately for it for the rest of your life.

How can you knowingly allow someone to take nude photos without consent, you wouldn't be allowing it.

As to the rest of your post, I pretty much agree, everyone knows that if you take a dirty photo or video, theres a chance it will end up on the internet, and once it's spread across the Internet, you'll never be able to remove it, and if your okay with that, great, do your business, but don't moan when someone spreads your shit.

This is about money for more people than not, the things people can and do sue each other for is ridiculous, it needs to stop.

If the content in question was given to someone with consent, it becomes theirs to do with as they please. It isn't non-consensual if you give it to them. If they took photos or video without your permission then you have recourse. If you don't want strangers to see your junk don't share pictures of your junk with people. If you do, and someone puts it online it isn't going to ruin your life, in fact after a short period of time it is unlikely many people will look it again. There is a constant influx of new hotness, and in a relatively short period of time it will just get sifted to the bottom of the barrel.

  17. #197
Pretty simple, don't let people film you while you're naked or doing the nasty. Common sense.

I don't really think giving someone a video with the condition that they neither share nor distribute it should be understood as consenting to it being shared and distributed.
Chances are it isn't going to ruin someone's life, it will likely make it unpleasant for a while but that becomes a good reminder not to do stupid things in the future.

If you gave it to them without stipulating any conditions, like 99% of the people in this situation do when they email someone a picture of their tits, well guess what. Just because you didn't think they would post it, doesn't mean they can't. The only way to be sure is to not do it.

    rofl.... nice catch.
The contradiction in the sentence part "knowingly allowed nude pictures or video be taken by anyone else, with or without consent" is already hilarious.

But, I respectfully disagree with both of you.
Intimate pictures (which obviously came first) have been taken by people in private for a long long time. Much longer than today's twisted minded generations are around. Later on moving pictures were added to it. The absolute overwhelming amount of people however did, and still today do this with respect, dignity and honor.
I know, these are three terms that for some people seem to be outlandish concept, but it doesn't change a thing, they are still highly regarded amongst mature people.
Factually, revenge porn falls into the category of "Kiss and Tell". It's just the worst type thereof.
And while kiss and tell always brings in a chuckle or two from peers. It will put a stamp on the teller. If you betray someone to such extent, it speaks books about your character, and how you handle secrets. Even the best friend will start to be very careful with as to what you are told/shown and what not.
With all that said, only the biggest assholes of all assholes do such things, and therefore the default stance is, that it is not expected for any bedroom secrets to be revealed during and after a relationship.

Don't convert our BF into a horrible AHole and you can stop worrying about revenge porn.
