I meant if they did some kind of Global channel in addition to Trade it would relieve trade. People that don't trade would rather post in the chat they know everyone will see. And people that don't want to hear those people at all could leave the Global. IMO it's a win win. I could see how it could get too rowdy, but I played all of BC and remember the LFG channel and I don't remember it ever being any worse than Trade is.

That's quite an idea to think about with WoW's economy. If you ever played Runescape Classic, that's virtually what their trade was. One or two servers were known for trade; you'd hop on that server, go to a main area, and there would be hundreds upon hundreds of people spamming their copy pasted selling point blurb while frantically running around. What compounded it even more was like you brought up, the distance of /say and /yell.

If there was a limit on how many times you could /say or /yell in a certain time frame, I'd give this a try haha. Could be pretty cool.

Doesn't it show that people don't need/don't want global chanels?

    obvious imo

As far as communication in the game goes, that was some of the best they've ever done. I could level alts and still caught the LFG for dungeons and such. It's a valid point that in order to caught pugs in chats, you gotta be planted in a city to see the request. You can't be out in the world.

Not at all. People just aren't willing to stick with something that doesn't already have a bunch of other people, so it's hard to get it started. Same reason it's hard to form a group until your close to full.

Gotta say, WoW trade chat is one of the biggest enjoyments I get out of the game oddly enough lol.

I've known people who sub just to sit there and chat.. ya no joke

Would be a cool engineering item. That you can use trade chat everywhere

How about you can see trade channel where ever in the world but you can only talk in it while in a city? So you can still whisper people to buy or to join a pug?

There was this for a while in game, World Chat I believe. I don't know if it's the best idea though due to trolling. I would say that adding it in your Garrison can help. Active zones (Timeless Isle) usually have a General Chat, but basically the idea is without Trade you are sort of "disconnected" - you can't really form groups and stuff.

Perhaps make a Global chat for level capped players only? I'm not sure if the World Chat was like this before.
