I read beta notes but it doesnt really say much. It seems like farm 2.0 where I can do "missions", which sounds like dailies......
You don't do missions, your "helpers" are doing it. You have NPC's, they get lvl's, and they do shit for you. That's all I know.
Meh, I guess so.
Early on, every half hour you drop by your garrison and send your minions to do missions which can reward items, gold, followers, resources, etc. You can also once you obtain plans for them add various buildings to give you free mats every day and provide other sorts of bonuses based on the level of the building.
Edit: I am a beta tester, but only level 93 because of Gorgronds instability. So I only have limited garrison knowledge.
Basically, I haven't gone too deep into the garrisons but they're almost completely passive. Every so often you get missions to send your followers out, they come back with loot or garrison resources (from what i've experienced).
Also, Blizzard talked about them being integrated with leveling. Basically every zone (so far) has a garrison outpost which is the main hub of the zone and I can't quite remember if Gorgond has one but I know Talador's outpost has a place to send orders to your followers so you don't have to go back to your garrison for that part (although I do believe you have to go back to use your different buildings).
But bottom line, you set it to do some stuff, you go on about your business (in game or IRL), come back and its done. There is a lot of potential to be had here but it's definitely not a daily grind.
Okay, let's see here...
1) We get a space of land that has a few plots to place building on.
2) We are not able to have every building at once.
3) Questlines will be different depending upon which buildings you chose.
4) Each building has different passive perks, as well as giving abilities to use in the world.
5) Gaining followers can be down through quests, events, or even just hiring them.
6) Missions have different durations, as well as rewards and bonuses.
7) Missions' success or failure depends upon the followers you send and their abilities
compared to the required abilities for the mission.
8) Upgrading the Garrison grants more plots as well as certain perks.
9) The race of guards can be chosen from each of the faction's capitals.
10) The music of the Garrison can be changed.
Not gonna bother to put down the rest now.
I have 4 followers and have run 10 missions (level 91 character). Thus far, the awards for successful missions are garrison supplies (currency for buildings and starting missions and perhaps other things), bonus follower exp, and an armour token (think a timeless cloth glove to click and make an item for your specialization). Sending a follower on a mission from your town hall takes about 10 seconds (assuming that you took 5 seconds to decide which follower was the best fit).
Awesome. I actually like doing dailies, so I am really looking forward to this. If you don't like them, just don't do them past what is required to level to max level and then just do raids, which it sounds like what you want. I enjoy the solo farmville just as much as I do the raiding, so it's a good addition.
Do you have one garrion per server, or is it per character. It will absolutely feel like plan old dailies in a "special" cookie cutter lair if it's per character.
You can also check on wowhead calculator to get an idea of what each building help for

It is also going to give you access to 3 more professions that you will chose (small plots). But the level of access is still unknown. Although I think I have read a blue post say that it will be pretty much as you naturally have that profession.
The trick of selling a FFA-PvP MMO is creating the illusion among gankers that they are respectable fighters while protecting them from respectable fights, as their less skilled half would be massacred and quit instead of “HTFU” as they claim.
The followers system for Garrisons sounds a lot like the Duty Officer system from Star Trek Online.
Wouldn't be surprised if that's where Blizzard got the idea to begin with, the only difference being that your Doffs in STO can't level up.
