WoW Down to 6.8 Million Subscribers

WoW Down to 6.8 Million Subscribers
Blizzard had their Q2 2014 earnings call today, announcing that WoW is down to 6.8 million subscribers. This is down 800k from the Q1 2014 call that listed WoW at 7.6 million subscribers.

    • There was a decline in subscribers quarter over quarter, which was disproportionately concentrated in the East and was similar to the seasonal decline experienced during the second quarter of 2012, prior to the launch of the most recent expansion later that year.

nice chart. Shows this is the first time WoW has been under 7M subs in 7 years. Kinda amazing when you think about it.

It's fun to draw in all of the other MMOs which have come and gone, and barely make a blip on this graph.

Was subscribed from 2006-2014 without ever unsubbing, but even my subscription was paused for a few months this year.

It just blows my mind how they could let that huge gap happen AGAIN (and even longer than before), despite all the talk over the years about how they want to achieve the opposite.

Shame people are leaving, hopefully they'll find joy elsewhere. As long as i enjoy the game i'll keep being subbed regardless of sub numbers.

Damnnnn..............this is amazing but also really depressing. For most of us, some of our best memories involve this simple video game. The titan is falling.
I really, really hope WoD brings nothing but greatness to the table because I fear that WoW is on its last leg.

Horrendous mismanagement and feature creep, presumably.

Id like to see an accurate graph of all mmos above 250k subs to see what kind of trends they have had over the last 5 years. Is it wows fault that its shrinking, or is it the mmo genre.

    Summer time
    Vacation
    Good weather
A lot of players are taking a break from WoW until Warlords of Draenor gets out

Not too surprising since there practically hasn't been any new content this year. I'm still subbed but haven't logged in for more than a minute or two in weeks. Nothing to do right now.

People are gone cause of the drought honestly, most will be back for the expansion.
