Decency would dictate that breastfeeding ought to be made in a quiet, more personal space, for the sake of the child and to avoid making a scene. Walking down the street with your tit out will spark controversy 9 times out of 10. But that is common sense, something very few people have.

Can American ladies lay in the sun without a top or bra? Because they can over here, more on the continent (Germany and Austria I saw it most) and whilst it's a bit strange noone really cares or goes further than "weird". Obviously if there's a lot of children about they don't do it. It's still not a comon occurrence, the idea that all ladies are suddenly gona set the twins free just doesn't pan out.

I explained why some babies won't take bottles. Also, many breastfed babies won't take the formula and it can cause upset tummies. Breast milk is easier on their digestion. It's really not always as simple as you make it. Have you had a child?

I think it is rude to assume everyone would be okay with it, you can keep some spare breast milk in a bottle for instances where you can't find a private space. Obviously you can't let a child starve if they aren't good with formula so it should be the mother's responsibility to have some spare. If you are going to a place where you won't be able to find a place to do it privately and maybe the breast milk won't be good anymore after a while, then maybe you shouldn't go or you should leave the child with a baby sitter with some bottles to feed them, if it is a long trip guess you aren't going.

It can be considered rude by some and while I personally don't have an issue with it as long as they are mindful (not at restaurants or next to strangers) I know some people would have a big issue and I can see where they are coming from.

I could care less about their opinions. They are entitled to them. I could care less about someone badgering me. I don't know them so I don't really care what they think. Again; There is a time and a place, and there is subtlety about it as well. Not everyone wants to see it, sure, so she should cover up, but she shouldn't feel ashamed or having to feed her kid, or be forced to bring expensive formula, a bag to carry it all and then finding a microwave to warm it up just because some asshats are afraid of something perfectly natural and normal.
