You'd be wrong. Almost every kid that plays a sport has a favorite player that they look up to and want to be.
Tomec, a 6 game suspension is a long time when there are only 16 games in their season. That and you have to remember that the players have a union backing them. Had the league gone much stricter they would have had a big fight on their hands and after last seasons labor strike that would have been horrible PR. So the league went as strict as they felt they could without drawing it into a courtroom. This also had to be done when it was to avoid more bad PR from doing nothing.
Current punishment:
1st offense - 6 games
2nd offense - 16 games (full season)
3rd offense - lifetime ban (can be appealed after 1 season)
As a Brit, I like American Football, but as I live in the UK, I don't know how to watch it or when any of the games start. Halp?
I usually only watch the superb owl and any playoff game that I catch.

You have ~18 hours to complete your night actions.
I think channel 4 or 5 have highlights at ~3AM, but as with most things Sky Sports have most (if not all) the rights to the regular matches.
Edit: Oh. Here you go. Channel 4 is what you want.
Edit2: Apparently the BBC have the rights to show some games, but there's nothing on the BBC website about it. So I'm assuming that this might be old information and just like they did with F1, they made a deal with the devil. *sob*
Edit3: Yup. It seems the BBC did ditch their rights. So Channel 4 is the only free to air channel (well... as free as TV in the UK gets. Stupid TV license) that shows American Football, with Sky showing some of the rest of the matches (2 Sunday night games and the Thursday night match, along with the Superbowl, and probably the Wembley matches as well) .
So, according to this, we will be getting one Sunday night late game (~1AM Monday morning for us) live every week. We also get the 3 Wembley games live, as well as the Superbowl for a total of 21 games. Then there's apparently a highlights show on Monday nights as well, but I haven't found what time that's on yet.
Edit4: Found it. The highlights show will be shown at 11PM Monday nights.
