Can i get an opinion or several!?

I have been talking with a friend about finally building myself a PC. And it feels like the right time as my ol' laptop is starting to croak. Here is a list of things he recommended, with a few of my own changes.

Things that changed were the case type (no need to post the old one) but i mention this as the reason for the external optical drive.

Tell me what you all think.

There will be Windows 7 64 Bit as well.

    Thank you!

Things I would change is get a RAM kit with 2x 4gb sticks to take advantage of dual-channel, and for the video card I really recommend upgrading to at least this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-024-_-Product for an extra 20 bucks.

Also, if you don't already have the OS, I would go with Windows 8.1

AMD is suppose to run better in windows 8.....unless your running an old license if win7 you have laying around.

Might you show me some source material proving such? If it is drastically better than I might consider 8. I'm just not the biggest fan of it. But thank you for the input!

Just skip AMD regardless. There's no reason to buy 2 year old AMD chips that are bested by Intel at every single price point in gaming.

Why suggest an APU? There is no reason to near the budget the OP put up. Nor is there a reason to go AMD in general for gaming.

Yeah, as said above don't even bother with AMD cpu's in general. You haven't mentioned a specific budget so tried to keep it low-ish.
