Current state of prot Paladin?

Hey, so I'm looking for a class to start tanking Highmaul with a few friends and I was wondering what the current state of prot palas are in comparison to other tanks? I was tanking on my pala throughout most of WotLK and early Cata but haven't really touched them since so don't know many of the changes beyond what I read quickly on this forum whilst looking for a thread comparing the tanks.

I have noticed that there aren't a lot of prot palas in the LFG thing. Coincidence?

TL: DR. What's the best tanking classes atm and how do palas compare?

Prot paladins are fine.
