What is the worst school trip you have been on?

For me it would have to be around the local town where we lived , going around surveying people on what they like about the town , so rubbish.

My school was too poor to have field trips, so we just walked half a mile, as a class, to burger king as a "field trip".

Any field trip in the American West involved a four hour bus ride one way so everyone was tired by the time we got there. I don't remember any bad ones though, anything that got me out of school was a plus.

Grade 8 we were supposed to go to Toronto for 3 days, but a few kids got in enough trouble that they had to cancel the trip. Instead we did not get our money back, but instead went to some Amusement Park near Montreal... it rained the whole day so all the rides were closed. We pretty much spent over $1000 to get there, then sit around in the rain for 8 hours til the bus came back to pick us up.

Went to a Nuclear Power Plant, that part was ok, but It was a warm day, getting near summer, and there was a Water Reclamation facility (Sewage treatment) near by, or at least in the area, and it reeked.

I remember us having to walk around town, and then being quizzed on why the streets had the names they had, and what/who they were named after. It was freaking boring, and way too long. Oh, and it rained the entire time, which was for over 5 hours.

I don't have a "worst" per say, but my favorite was going to see the Lion King in NYC on broadway in 5th grade.

Hmm Lucky to grow up in Minnesota so all of our field trips rocked, from caves in Wisconsin to study stalactites to some of the apple farms during the fall. It was always a great experience and lots to learn.

I really kind of hope my kids any all kids get that experience of having a diverse education and learning about the world, where things come from and how they work. However there is one field Trip I remember from YouTube, that while it wasn't me was probably the worst I have ever heard of.

Yeah this is probably the worst I have ever heard of.

I enjoyed my school trips. The "worst" one was probably when we visited Rome due to the extreme heat, but it was very interesting and fun, certainly not a bad experience.

Went on a week long canoeing trip in 7th grade. The purpose was to promote team building and bonding between classmates.

It rained every single night of the trip. Kids were in charge of cooking on a rotation, but because of inexperience and the weather conditions it took until 11 p.m. to set up tents, and 12 p.m. to start any kind of cooking fire.

The canoes transporting all of the equipment capsized pretty much every day, leaving all of the clothes and bedrolls/sleeping bags soaked in riverwater.

When I came back, I was exhausted and smelled like the river. I had big splotches of scabs breaking out on my skin that looked like some kind of flesh-eating disease. My dad told me straight up he thought I was going to die. Turns out it was just impetigo, so I took some antibiotics and was fine a few days later.

I could do without another one of those trips ever again.

Can't remember a school trip that was worst than going to school. I don't remember the details of ever school trip. Maybe things are different now? That's not to say that I remember them fondly... the main thing I look back on them is for getting to do something other than school work for a day. They were fun, but not exactly memorable.

That said, while not 'bad', I do remember a bunch of crows being fed bread on one of these trips to the extent that a whole murder of crows were going nuts and literally bombing people with bird shit. I may or may not have been a part of feeding them... Funny how it's things like this that I remember most fondly from my childhood.

In my defense, a big reason why these birds were fed in the first place is because the sandwiches we were given to eat for lunch on that trip were literally moldy. Like, big green spots on the plastic-wrapped sandwiches. If anything, these disgusting sandwiches (IE, skipping lunch because of it) was probably alternatively my worst experience on a school trip, but again... those birds made up for it.

TBH it sounds like Europe has far more interesting school trips than we get in the USA. I'm a little envious.

Edit: I think I actually do recall the worst field trip I was a part of. Mainly because I was embarrassed to be in the same group of people (I did not participate in any way, mind you). One of the field trips I was a part of went to an Opera of some sort (Toreador I think?) and someone from the company actually had to make an announcement that people were throwing stuff on the stage/actors and the actors were going to refuse to continue if these kids didn't stop throwing crap on the stage.

These little shits (whomever was doing it, it might have even just been one person) were really taking things to a whole new level of unclassiness; if they didn't want to be there, they should have stayed home. Fortunately, they did stop after that. I did enjoy the opera though IIRC, so there's that.

In short I guess, it's not really a matter of where I visited for these field trips so much as the stuff that happened on them that really is noteworthy to me.

Graduation Night with Friends. Too much drama, too much bullshit. No fun. Luckily, the year after, I went alone, and had a ton of fun.

Most of the school trips I went on were pretty great. Castles, natural history museums, day trips to foreign cities and a week long excursion to the Czech Republic during my final year. Worst was probably a visit to a concentration camp, not because it was boring, but because the serious nature of the trip got ruined by asshole classmates with a lack of respect.
