Dude who broke the news is sticking to his guns though:

Remember last year when "major outlets" shot down the Mallett trade & front office "strongly denied". Lived w/ that for 3 months.
Story has been verified by 3 different sources. Time will prove it. Been here before.

This is hilarious, wether it's true or not. Just goes to show what a complete rollercoaster ride the off season is for players and front office types. Just when you think you have things figure dout, someone, somewhere throws a wrench in the works and the media hype machine goes crazy for a while.

And it rarely matters if something is true or not, as long as there was some media dude who believed his sources at some point.

Feel bad for 49'er fans though. First the Gore news, and then this trade block news (fake or not). They've not had an easy off season, I mean it started with Harbaugh getting canned and went down hill from there it seems.

Gore and Sproles? I don't think there'll be any issue with them working together, Sproles is usually the more limited back often used to relieve McCoy and more for returns/special teams, Gore is more of a main guy. They are both pretty old though as far as running backs go.

I just read about the Suh deal. Miami sounds like a good fit for him, lol. Personally if I was a team owner/GM I would never pay that much for him. As good as he may be he just has too many issues IMO. That is an insane amount of money for someone with huge character flaws - flaws that often spill over onto the football field and end up hurting the team.

Meh, it's not unheard of though. Saw it mentioned earlier on twitter that Patriots In 2008 their top 3 rushers were Sammy Morris (31), Kevin Faulk (32) & LaMont Jordan (30).

2008 was the year Brady was out and they still went 11-5 under Matt Cassel and missed the playoffs on some bullshit tie breaker.

The Suh deal came completely out of left field to me. Glad he's gone from the division, but damn that cost....

Maybe a Chiefs WR will catch a touchdown this year.

It'll be longer than the baseball thread ever gets before the draft starts

Whee. It would be nice to see KC have a deep passing game. Surely Maclin can't make it worse, though I'm unfamiliar with his work. Overshadowed by Desean Jackson I guess.

I always liked Maclin better than Jackson, he's a dependable receiver who has a better all-around game, tougher, good blocker, good fit for what KC does even if his numbers will be back in the neighborhood of what he was doing previously with Andy Reid.

Bills re-sign Hughes, maybe the AFC East won't be such a shitshow next season, just the Jets.

Raiders sign Rodney Hudson to a 5 year deal for 44.5 million according to La Canfora. No idea how much is guaranteed.

Few teams seem to be in for Mike Iupati, seems to be done in SF.

I didn't mean Gore and Sproles would do bad, (Much love for the Lightning Bug, who outshined Shady last season) I just was surprised to see a team like the Eagles who are so fast paced to bring in another veteran back. Gore is a great RB, has some juice left in the tank too. Should be a good fit.

Suh on the Dolphins just surprises me since the Incognito incident made me have the opinion the Dolphins locker room was a mismanaged one.

Chip Kelly believes his scheme can replace talent. I don't agree with that. When you run a fast paced offense that 3 and outs so fast that the defense doesn't get a rest, the scheme might be the problem.

I've never heard anything about Suh and locker room issues.

The Patriots have had plenty of success without having elite talent (besides Brady). Heck, even Matt Cassel had success in that scheme.

If the scheme can make Mark Sanchez look like a solid pro then I buy it. I think it wise to focus their free agent monies on defense since they're often vulnerable due to the shortcomings of Chip's system though.

I was actualy suprised to see how well Sanchez did in Kellys' scheme but it sort of makes sense. What I predict, however, is that most teams will be far more prepeared for that kind of scheme this year than they were last year and will be more ready when facing it meaning the Eagles needed to improve their defense ALOT to keep the ball rolling. And they did just that.

I actualy fear the Eagles more this year (as a 'Boys fan) than I fear the Giants despite the Eli Manning, Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. combination which will be kinda scary.

Speaking of ODB, one of his best boosters last year was being unexpected. Will he be able to continue being productive this year where people will probably place him higher on the coverage priority list?

I think ODB was already high on the priority list. The difference this year will be the game film that can be studied. He's no doubt talented but I'm not sure he will the star that he was last year. Cruz being back can only help though so we shall see.
Defenses schemed correctly for the Eagles last year and they still broke franchise numbers for scoring. Losing Maclin will hurt but not as much as some people tend to believe.

This to me is staggering news, but it seems to not get much attention around here. Patrick Willis is the backbone of what was only 14 months ago a seriously dominant defense. The fact he is calling it quits at only age 30 is mindblowing.

Between Gore leaving, Justin Smith likely retiring, Patrick Willis hanging it up and Harbaugh getting canned that team has lost a LOT. Add the Kapaernick trade rumour (which btw, the guy that broke it was just proven right about deals for both Mallet and Hoyer to the Texans which he also broke first. He's Texans guy that has sources in the building and he claims the Texans (in obvious need of a QB) were contacted to see how they would feel abotu Kapaernick) and you are looking at 1 seriously dysfunctional franchise right now.

49'ers went straight from 3 NFC championship games, to 8-8, to blowing the entire thing up and starting over. Kinda scary to see a franchise implode like that, cause you know with the wrong people around this might happen to any franchise, even yours.

It's kinda funny how you just KNOW that before Suh was signed to any team, all the teams he was rumored to go to, their conference rivals were worried untill the 'Fins finally claimed him. You have to have some kind of weird, disturbing respect for someone who instills that much fear into the hearts of the opponent. Take the fact that Suh is an outstanding player and combine it with his history of playing dirty and you have a combo which will demoralize most people on the field.

I don't like him or his methods but there's no question about the effectiveness of his ways, as morally dubious as they may be.

His dirty ways only lower people's opinion of him, cause you know he can't hurt you in other ways and gets frustrated and takes it out in ways outside the rules. That's weakness, and other players know it.

He's a great DT, but he can be schemed against and taken out like the Patriots expertly did past season when they played the Lions and dumped 34 points on them without Brady getting sacked even once. Green Bay handled him without a hitch as well. Good teams don't fear Suh any more then they do any other player.

Yeah, but there's always the "What If". In Football, the best sportsmen are the ones helping up the opposite teams players after a play. The worst are the ones who try to inflict damage during the break hoping not to get caught.

Suh is a terrible sportsman and, let's be honest, knows he has a reputation but does not shy from it, he revels in it. I'm not going to go full conspiracy on this thread about Suh but let's just break it down for a moment. We've got a player who's KNOWN for cheap shots and dirty play. He just got paid a FORTUNE to play for a new team. You can't tell me that no matter how good Suh is, the Dolphins aren't expecting him to add a little dirtiness for that price, right?

They went out of their way to aquire the full Suh package so I honestly don't buy the notion that they're not going to use it.

Previously, Suh didn't HAVE to be dirty, he WANTED to be dirty. I believe now he's being PAID to be dirty. He's gonna get dirty..
