They apparently had to shut him down at practice last Friday. There's no way he plays week 16, and I have a shrewd suspicion he won't play again this year. If the Broncos still manage to get a bye they'll start him in the playoffs (or try to) if not, I think he doesn't play again at all.

With Manning being hurt and pretty much 100% sure retiring and Osweiller being a free agent at the end of the year suddenly a bleak picture at QB in Denver. Osweiller will command some decent cash in the off season, and is Denver really willing to tie themselves down to what they've seen the past 3 games (zero second half points)?

If Osweiller is going to have a breakthrough game now, against the Bengals and AJ McCarron, is the time. He could set a lot of minds at ease.

The game will be one of two things.

Either the most boring Monday night game this year with the final score being 9-6 or an awakening game for Brock Lobster and Vernon Davis.


Eifert is probably going to be on concussion protocall until the postseason. I've already come to terms with the first round being Pitt Vs Cincy.

Denver's front 7 has like 2 linemen and Von Miller as free agents next season and they'll have the question every off season if Ware is going to retire or lose a step. Unlikely they'll be able to bring everyone back, so they can use any good depth players they can, I think.

There's also always the matter of signing players to futures contracts for next season. They only have 53 + 10 players right now, so getting those talented players that didn't make a team this year or were hurt and released this year are vital to getting the 90 man that will be in training camp eventually. Season is almost over so the time to start working on next year's roster is slowly starting to gain steam.

And don't think too lightly about that process. Patriots signed Dion Lewis to just such a futures contract last year, and look at what he did (till he got hurt ).
