mind sear question

i seen on some guide that its was worth to recast mind sear after the second tick because mind sear do initial damage and when you recast it after the second tick this initial damage is reset, so what do you think? also when we are speaking about second tick, it is the second or third(white bar) on Gnosis? im using this add on for mind flay

You are most probably referring to:

"Mind Sear has initial damage on cast. Try to maximize this, if you recast Mind Sear after the 2nd tick the initial damage portion is reset and you can recast to gain that additional damage. If you spam refresh, this won’t reset the initial damage hit."

If you spam refresh, you cancel the channeling after the second tick including the initial tick. So he is referring to the third time your mind sear actually makes damage
