"Nintendo Switch's first-party line-up for the rest of 2020 will be dominated by Mario games old and new, to coincide with the original Super Mario Bros.' 35th anniversary.
That's according to Eurogamer sources with knowledge of Nintendo's upcoming plans, who have corroborated a report posted by VGC.
First, the report states Nintendo will release "most of Super Mario's 35-year back catalogue this year, remastered for Nintendo Switch".
There's no detail on which games this includes, but the article includes a banner image of Mario Galaxy, perhaps intended to suggest the Wii classic as one of these games.
Eurogamer sources have indicated that Mario Galaxy is indeed one of the games being readied for a remaster, alongside a couple of other 3D Mario favourites. [UPDATE: Gematsu has now confirmed these as Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine, which Eurogamer can corroborate.]
Many earlier Mario games are already available on Switch via the console's Switch Online NES and SNES apps.

Second, the report states "several other Mario titles" will release in 2020, including a new Paper Mario.
Eurogamer sources have confirmed a new Paper Mario is in the works, along with a Deluxe version of Super Mario 3D World, which will include an array of new levels. This long-rumoured Wii U port is one of a couple of first-party games from Nintendo's previous console currently due for a new lease of life in 2020.
When contacted for this story, Nintendo gave Eurogamer its traditional response that it did not comment on rumour or speculation."

Multiple sources have told VGC that the platform holder is planning to hold an event to coincide with this year’s anniversary, which marks 35 years since the start of the mainline Super Mario series in 1985.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, Nintendo will reveal plans to re-release most of Super Mario’s 35-year back catalogue this year, remastered for Nintendo Switch, VGC was told.
As VGC’s network partner Eurogamer reported in a follow-up to our story, these remasters will include 1997’s Super Mario 64, 2002’s Super Mario Sunshine and 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy.
Nintendo will also release several other Mario titles in 2020, including a new instalment in the Paper Mario series and a Deluxe version of 2013’s Super Mario 3D World.
Most of Mario’s back catalogue will be remastered for Switch, VGC was told.
The plans are set to be revealed alongside new details of Nintendo’s partnership with Universal, and the pair’s Super Nintendo World theme park attractions and animated Super Mario movie.
Nintendo has already unveiled one flagship licensing deal planned to commemorate the anniversary: a special interactive Lego Mario set which sees players collecting coins and defeating enemies in real-life ‘levels’.
The Super Mario 35th Anniversary reveal was originally due to take place as a physical event at E3 in June, VGC was told, but Nintendo is now reviewing its plans in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. E3 2020 has been cancelled due to the virus outbreak and Nintendo could instead opt for a digital showcase.

so those are the two articles floating around. doesnt seem to say anything about it being one package or a bundle only that they will be getting released the same year and remastered.
i think the likelihood of them being packaged together is very small but i could definitely see them getting remastered and released for the anniversary and it would be great padding for their lineup

Honestly, the Mario news is major. I'll buy everything they are selling in that regard. However, I am disappointed because I would have preferred a Zelda remaster blitz. Just barely though. Galaxy 2 would be a MAJOR game for me.
did some more digging around, it seems venture beat corroborated the rumour but their source does say its an all star esque one package situation but that theyre unsure about 3d world, while the sources for the other 3 seem to only corroborate them being remastered.
i just dont see a situation where its one package although it would be amazing if it were and be an instabuy

I don't think you understand what a delay announcement is.
Journalists speculating because of resource shortages is not a delay announcement. They literally have broken down both the XSX and PS5 full specs in recent weeks officially and still said they are holiday 2020 releases.
If you think they're gonna delay a launch because they can only ship 2 million systems instead of 4 million on launch day you're crazy. Hell with PS5 it likely doesn't matter how many they can ship as it will sell out day 1 anyways if PS4 is anything to go by.
they actually said they dont foresee any delays (for now) https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainm...ed/ar-BB11UQrA
granted with how things are going i wouldnt be surprised, however i STILL wouldnt buy a pro because any delays would be in terms of months due to production issues since for all intents and purposes the ps5 is finished, its not like between now and qtr 4 there were going to be any major changes in hardware.
unless there is a game you absolutely must play and cannot wait id just wait a few more months regardless of possible delays.
it'd be like those people who bought wiius to play botw when the switch was out of stock at launch (although i guess a better example would be if someone bought a gamecube for tp considering the wiiu atleast has some exclusive games)
which if you've got the cash and really want a game that bad i dont judge (i bought a psp just to play bbs back in the day)
but if you can wait a few months for ps5 thats the better deal.
atleast with buying a switch or even an xbox you'll be able to play all of the games coming out for it a few more years (for now xbox one will play the same games as series x can) if you buy a ps5 you can play ps4 games and ps5 games

As much as I want to say I’ll shell out whatever they want for some Sunshine, 64 and the two Galaxy games, it’s going to annoy the shit out of me that knowing Nintendo, they all be 60 a piece and packaged separately(And never go on sale of course).
I mean if theyre truly remastered i have no problems seeing it.
would hold off quite a few years constantly seeing "heres was bobombs battlefield looks like in unreal 4" etc etc for a while. and i started replaying sunshine a few years ago but stopped a small bit into the game because of rumours that the switch would have gc virtual console but then that never panned out and i just never got back around to it

While we're asking for Switch ports of GC/Wii games, can we have Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn already please?
Ex-Mod. Technically retired, they just won't let me quit.

The only company that hates their back catalog more then Nintendo is Sega. They would rather fund shitty ass brand new RPGs like the new Sakura Wars or Valkyria Revolution then simply remaster classic games like Jet Set Radio Future or Skies of Arcadia. They can't argue about profitability either when the 2 games I listed sold like dog shit.
I would love either a remastered or new Super Mario RPG, or put it on the super nintendo app already!
