    Lightbulb Visual Novels

    Greetings my fellow champions!

In the past year or so, I've been playing a lot of visual novels.
Since I started working, I bought a Nintendo DS, and played a lot of amazing games, like The World Ends With You (TWEWY is not a visual novel, but it's a great game! )

After TWEWY, I started playing the famous Phoenix Wright series and, oh boy, what an amazing game.

PW: Ace Attorney is great, probably a 8.5/10, acing in the soundtrack and charisma department.

After this one, I moved to PW: Justice for All, the sequel. Not as amazing as the first one, but great nonetheless.

Again, after JFA, I moved to Trials and Tribulations, 9.5/10 (Godot!) , and Apollo Justice, which is great too.

After PW, I started to really appreciate visual novels. If created correclty, they can be quite the experience.

I tried 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and my God. Again, I was in love. Great narrative, great characters, multiple endings, nice soundtrack and so on and so on.

I'm willing to try new games in the genre. What do you, my champions, would suggest?
    I thank you all!

Hmm if you don't mind PC VNs Steins;Gate is good. Sadly I have no experience with handheld VNs.

Have you tried Analogue: A hate story?

Supposed to be really good! I haven't finished it myself yet, so this is just from hearsay.
Also Hatoful Boyfriend is supposed to be nice, but haven't played it.

Agreed with this. Are you solely looking for VNs for the DS? Because I've played a few VNs on the PC (namely Steins;Gate, Saya no Uta, and Katawa Shoujo) that I can heartily recommend. Steins;Gate takes a bit too long to get going, but holy shit was it amazing. One of the best experiences I've ever had with any media, ever. With Saya no Uta, it was a good story, albeit dark (there's some rape, mind control, etc.). Also, just a warning, there's nudity I believe. It's been a while. Katawa Shoujo is an excellent VN in which you can date numerous women with disabilities. It's pretty unique, and I was extremely impressed with how well it was done. It's free as well. However, be aware that there are sex scenes/nudity, although I found it to be done tastefully and actually made sense (meaning this isn't a porn game with a "story", but a story about relationships that include sex).

In regards to Waervyn's post, I've never gotten around to playing Analogue, but I can comment on Hatoful Boyfriend. I bought it thinking I was going to get a fun, unique game. Well, I did get a unique game, but I felt like it really squandered its premise. You're dating birds (you're a human), and this is never addressed (well, I hear it is if you 100% the game...)! Why? I could write a lot more about it, but the short version is I didn't have fun with it; I wouldn't recommend it.

Nope. Anything will do. I've played Katawa Shoujo. Quite interesting, but not as much as some other VN's, like 999. I love mystery, and some DS VN's ace that aspect.

Well I'd highly recommend Steins;Gate; easy 10/10 for me. Saya no Uta was more of a 7 or 8/10 for me, but still pretty enjoyable. Just...kinda fucked up. Can't think of any other VNs I can recommend - I'm actually looking for some to play, myself.

As an aside, I'm actually looking to get the newest DS very soon (I only have the very first generation DS, and it's more or less dead), so once I pick it up, I'll give 999 a shot.

Don't think any of my 15-20 VNs are mystery I'm afraid.

Edit: Just remembered Kara no Shōjo.

As long as I've been involved in gaming, I don't think I've ever actually played a visual novel. I'd like to try one out eventually though.

Phoenix Wright! Phoenix Wright is amazing, and if you like Manga/Anime, you'll love it. CORNERED FTW!
