Following up from the last few pages: what sort of series is RWBY?

I've seen several clips/AMVs and it appears to primarily be school/action seasoned with some drama and comedy? I've debated watching it but heard mixed reviews. Also if I were to watch it, would Japanese or English be a better route? ("Are the dubs any good?")

It has great comedy, great fight scenes, and as of season 3 it goes pretty dark.

It's an American show so it's only available in English right now. It's action/adventure with drama and comedy (I find it pretty funny personally) with some of the best fights you'll see. It's a fun watch as long as you don't expect something that it isn't. It's a fun show that's not meant to be taken seriously.

Maybe I'm delusional: I thought somebody mentioned that it was being ported to Japanese some time ago. I knew it was an American series in English, hence the (failed) joke about Japanese 'dubs'.

It's being dubbed in Japan because it's really popular in Japan.
