Zom 100: 6/10. After the first episode aired, I was sold. I thought it was a fantastic start, and I was confident this was the anime of the season. This continued for the next one to two episodes...and then they introduced Kenichirou and it all went downhill. I do not care about him at all. I do not find the fact that he always finds an excuse to get naked funny. I was not amused that he abandoned his bro when he could clearly tell his buddy was striking out and he himself was going to get some. It had some dumb fun, such as punching a shark or whatever that was near the middle of the season, but then the break happened and I completely forgot about it. I started and finished it tonight and... oof. So... you've got a few antagonists that want to "FUCK SOCIETY" (cringe)... because of... nonsense motivations, ranging from stupid shit like being resentful of your significant other and doing nothing to try and rectify the situation and just being a ball of hate, to... not attempting to better yourself and not caring to the point of burning the store down and taking zero responsibility (and, instead, deciding you deserve to french kiss this girl who is repulsed by you... by threatening her with a revolver). The leader of your antagonist squad decided to destroy a village, lower their defenses, let zombies in, and take the protagonist's father hostage because... FUCK SOCIETY, I guess. When protagonist won because the power of makeup, he gave a grand speech that included the phrase "if that was your goal, why weren't you happy doing it?" Yes. That's the issue. When he was trying to literally kill a village full of people, he wasn't happy doing so. Fuck off, show. It's over. It was an okay turn off your brain type show, but I will not be watching any further episodes, and the more I think about this show, the more I think lesser of it... what wasted potential.

100 GFs: 7.5/10 (rounded down to a 7 on MAL). I have mixed feelings about this show. I quite like Karane (yes, I like tsunderes. No I will not apologize for it), but characters such as Shizuka and Kusuri are nothing at best and annoying at worst. It has some decent moments and I mostly enjoyed the breaking of the fourth wall, but some episodes did absolutely nothing for me (such as the eighth episode, save for certain kiss). The old lady roaming the halls was utterly repulsive and I could have done with her gone. And the last arc was... eh... but overall, I liked this show well enough. I do wonder how this will continue; the amount of GFs he has now feels a bit overwhelming to me, but I'm on board.

SxF S2: 7.5/10 (rounded down to a 7 on MAL). The best season so far. This show is at its best when it is focusing on the Forager family (and not including the school elements, they're so boring...). The cruise arc was a lot of fun... but I did finding myself wishing it had been a bit more concise. Fiona is my favorite character, and I wish she'd get more screen time, but she did get a little bit of love at the end. Yuri is garbage and he should get no more screen time at all.

Frieren: 8.5/10 (so far). My opinion of this show has changed a few times as it has gone on. Initially I loved the fact that it takes place after defeating the demon king. Then I quickly found myself bored (to the point of literally falling asleep) as the first two or three episodes came out. Something about the slow pace didn't sit well with me at the time, and I considered dropping it... but then something clicked as I persevered through it, and I'm very happy that I kept with it. Frieren and Fern are fantastic characters. Stark and Eisen I found myself enjoying a bit as well. The others I have mixed feelings about, but that's okay. But there are some great moments here, such as learning how to counter an enemy's fearsome magic because they had been locked up for many years, Stark overcoming his crippling cowardice, yet slaying the dragon... the multiple fights in episodes eight-ish through ten-ish... even Eisen's "I'm here because I'm afraid", there's quite a few moments to choose from that I really liked. The visuals and music are great, too. I just wish it was a bit less meandering sometimes. I could see myself bumping this up, depending on how it continues and finishes.

---

looks at anime airing next season... Hmm. I'll definitely be watching The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 as well as continuing Frieren, but past that I'm not sure what else I should watch. Any recommends? What will y'all be watching?

I watched way too much this season, and there isn't much in the way of standouts.

Frieren - 8/10: Started off slow, but has gotten better as it goes. I love the banter between Stark and Fern. Frieren herself can be goofy too. I don't think it's "best anime out there", but it is quite enjoyable and worth the watch for anyone.

The Apothecary Diaries - 7/10: Maomao solo carries this show. That can be a good thing, but here it's because nothing else really stands out. No other characters. Not a fan of the setting or the ideas of the story. It's just all about Maomao. But that's also why she gets best girl of the season.

The Eminence in Shadow season 2 - 7/10: It's still good, but also getting very predictable. None of the girls really standout except Delta.

Dr. Stone New World Part 2 - 7.5/10: Possibly the weakest arc. It's still Dr. Stone, but it feels off when they introduce an actual "villain". The world itself should be the antagonist, not some weird dude on an island.

Spy x Family season 2 - 7/10: This show has always been consistent, and continues to do so. It's never wowed me, but always good to sit down and enjoy.

100 Girlfriends - 6/10: The tsundere being the only real entertaining girl is a problem. Science girl could be fun, because I like how her childish personality shows when she's in her, um, alluring form. But the transformation is just a little creepy. They didn't have to age it down THAT much. Also, like Iced said, the old lady is just disgusting.

Ancient Magus Bride season 2 part 2 - 7/10: Again, probably the weakest arc. It moves veeery slowly. I like all the students we get to know, and I like how Chise is sort of the strong one to show the other students how things are done. That is a nice contradiction in her personality. But between the pacing and the setting not being as beautiful as what we expect from this show, it's a bit of a downgrade.

I'm In Love With The Villainess - 7/10: Another hard carry by the lead. Rae is endlessly entertaining. Kind of meh when the show tries to get too serious as a result. Really gonna need a season 2 when they foreshadow like that.

Stardust Telepath - 6/10: A typical cute girls doing cute things. A tiny bit of Yuru Camp vibes from it, but not enough to get that same feeling. Has some good moments but ultimately not very memorable.

Shield Hero season 3 - 7/10: This show is good about introducing new characters during each arc that are fun. Blind girl who kicks ass, orca girl who kicks ass. I do miss the previous characters from season 2 though. I wish they'd stop forcing Malty into the story though. At this point it's just getting old. But hey, we got progress in the main story.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend season 2 - 7/10: Something about this season feels less funny than before. Plus, I really don't like Shino.

SHY - 6.5/10: I think this show's biggest weakness is it doesn't seem to have a direction. Like the characters, like their struggles, but don't know what's gonna happen next. Almost feels like one of those long running shounen shows where you need a bit of time to get the prologue out of the way. But hey, season 2 confirmed so we'll see. Another issue is it seems like SHY advanced really quickly.

Our Dating Story - 7/10: Might be the most underrated show of the season. I think people might have gotten the wrong idea from the trailer. It's not supposed to be lewd. In fact, it's very wholesome, and our lead guy isn't as much a loser as we think. Plenty of growth, no hanging on to misunderstandings past one episode, and nice progression. Couple good supporting characters too.

I Shall Survive Using Potions - 6/10: I was ready to drop this one, but I like isekai with less-than-morally-good protagonists. I like how Kaoru abuses her friendship with the goddess, and even how they lampshade that at times. I don't like how they aged her down a bit too much. I get that was the joke, but still. And they went further by making other adults look a little too young too.

OP of the season: SHY. Cheating because I'm always going to vote for MindaRyn.
ED of the season: Dr. Stone. Just a perfect song for this arc.

Gonna have to try not to watch so much next season. Dangers in My Heart and Banished From the Hero's Party are my two sequels. Villainess level 99, A Sign of Affection, Tales of Wedding Rings, Gushing Over Magical Girls, and The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil, on my list. Plus continuing Frieren and Apothecary Diaries. Much more doable than the massive amount from Fall.

Nothing this season interests me. I was watching Cybuster and Dragonar but have put them on hold.

Full Metal Panic sequel announced.

Thunderbolt Fantasy season 4 expected to air in 2024.

Ascendance of a Bookworm season 4 was announced a few months back, is expected to air in 2024.

2024 shows so far that i think are good:
Sasaki and Peeps --- its similar to that isekai where a character could move betwen worlds, but its a bit different than usual. (also it has a anoying girl at the door)
The Unwanted Undead Adventurer --- kinda like skeleton knight in another world, but this time with evolution i guess
Delicious in Dungeon -- its decent, but i think that cook and tamed legendary pet were better

Gushing Over Magical Girls (UNCENZORED) --

Meh: Chained Soldier, Ishura, The Demon Prince of Momochi House, My Instant Death Ability is Overpowered

Watching next: The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic
Don't sweat the details!!!

Yuuki Bakuhatsu Bang Bravern in like 3/4 episode gives a pretty strange suprise tho...

The Boy and the Heron - 6/10 (fine) borderline 7/10 (good)

New Ghibli film by Hayao Miyazaki. High production values but doesn't have any super spectacular scenes. Has a forgettable soundtrack which is a first for a Miyazaki movie. I was surprised to learn that Joe Hiashi actually composed the music. Besides the score, the movie's biggest weakness is that - like Howl's Moving Castle - the last act/climax isn't properly built up and comes out of nowhere. "You mustn't reject the real world! You must be a good creator!" comes out of the literal abyss. There are a couple tearful goodbye scenes that has no impact either because there was no buildup. The characters only knew each other for 10 to 15 minutes. Max. A lot of stuff that was set up earlier in the movie does not matriculate, such as the subplot about the stepdad running a factory, or the balloon creatures being souls. The movie also has a strange final scene. It overall feels like there was at least 10-20 minutes, maybe half an hour of more story that was supposed to be here. While I understood the characters, the movie failed to get me invested in them.

However, the movie is good if you want a zany fantasy adventure film like Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle. English dub is decent. If you want to go to the theaters than watch this. There's a reason why this movie is still in theaters while shit like Aquaman 2 doesn't even last 2 months before being pulled and going onto a streaming service.

The new Gundam SEED Freedom movie came out in Japanese theaters last month and is now the highest grossing Gundam movie ever, but no US release date has been announced yet and it hasn't been dumped onto Netflix like Hathaway was. Come on! GIVE ME THE MECH FIGHTS!

Had such a huge impact on manga and anime. The longevity of the Dragon Ball franchise says it all. And don't forget he designed the characters for Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest.

This season is winding down, and it's been...ok. Frieren still the stand out. Gonna miss it. No way they don't make more, right? Right?
Solo Leveling: Didn't expect much from this one, and I have not been surprised. Not bad, just meh.
Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic: Really funny, clever use of healing magic. Would not mind seeing more.
A Sign of Affection: Cute, but a bit more bland than I expected.
Gushing Over Magical Girls: Borderline hentai, often in uncomfortable ways. I like a few of the characters, but man they really go over the top.
Hokkaido Gals: Also cute but pretty uninspiring.
Fluffy Paradise: Can watch this girl gush over cute animals all day.

Next season has three potential yuri shows. Whisper Me a Love Song is confirmed, Radio Host Voice Actors is tagged, but not sure. I've heard Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night is bait. There's also the Spice and Wolf Remake, One Room which sounds like An Angel Next Door, but with an actual angel. Season 3 of Slime, Konosuba, and Yuru Camp. Salad Bowl sounds like a nice fish out of water. Astro Note sounds like A Galaxy Next Door.

Seems like they put SAND LAND: THE SERIES up. Maybe out of respect for Akira Toriyama.

First teaser for Thunderbolt Fantasy season 4. Seems like Urobuchi's planned season 5 has instead become a movie scheduled for 2025 (Toriken Yuki Saishusho = Thunderbolt Fantasy Final).
