Alderamin 4: Cool episode. Was nice to see Yatori have a solid scene to herself and it was pretty badass - the animation was really solid and the gore was well done. The aerial view of the troops fighting each other was pretty bad on the other hand. The main issue I have with this anime is that only three characters are interesting so far. Overall, awesome episode. Definitely underrated for this season.

What the series reflects on is humanity's nature. That we are doomed to repeat mistakes (the initial awakening of PK and how humanity reacted).... It was ironic that the Queerats eventually developed democracy and feudal system. Two systems inherent more stable than the Theocracy that was the human society.

I would have to wait for rebuttal in order to discuss more. But the show was great overall. But it did start slow and requires you watching the entire thing in order to understand what is going on. I would give it a 9/10.

Shinsekai Yori "rebuttal." I don't see it as a reflection on being doomed to repeat mistakes. I see it as a demonstration of how morality is derived from the needs of society.

Cantus means that every single human has the possibility of becoming an extinction event for the community. History already demonstrated that its existence toppled the previous civilization and the subsequent history showed how terribly it could be abused. In order to prevent these horrors from being repeated the new society adopted a series of strict tenants designed to prevent their recurrence. Young children were closely monitored and those that demonstrated insufficient control were removed to keep them from accidentally causing damage. The same method was also used for those who disregarded rules or displayed problematic personality traits. After the latest incident with the ogre (or fiend, depending on translation) it was decided that children had no rights as humans until the age of sixteen in order to allow the Education Committee greater leeway in addressing threats. All of this sounds absolutely horrible to us living in Western democracies. But I believe the show convincingly demonstrates that these steps were not only reasonable but necessary in order to ensure a measure of stability and safety in the society.

At this point my narrative changes from yours: I disagree with your statement that the Cantus society was theocratic, as well as that it is less stable than a democracy would be.

First, the Cantus society is not controlled by religion. It uses religion, along with ritual, hypnosis, and suggestion, to tap into the subconscious and help further control the people's telekinetic powers. None of the major decisions are motivated by theological principles nor do the clergy (monks) actually occupy the top of the political hierarchy. That spot solidly belongs to the Education Committee.

Second, democracy would be a disaster. Their society cannot afford to have people be too deviant. Think of it this way: in our society we can afford to let people behave and believe as they wish as long as it does not interfere with others' ability to do the same. But in a Cantus world, where mere thoughts can kill, that is no longer the case. Being mentally or emotionally unstable, feeling depressed or isolated, or merely having a bad day can have very permanent consequences.

In any case, glad you enjoyed it. I hope my post doesn't come across as attacking yours so much as seizing upon something to provide some commentary.

The white whale death was in the last game too, but it never triggered. This time it went on a rampage.
The invasion events never triggered this time, which was annoying. I really wanted the NGE "get into the robot" one to happen
I really need to make more events, since so many of them kept repeating. Next time I'll probably ask for recommendations

I recall that picture. It was a bunch of "top imgur pictures" in a panel. Most of them were the parrot he mentions but there was one that appeared to be a naked man from behind with visible genitalia. I assumed that it was merely one of those, "looks bad but is actually something else" pictures since it looked a little off...but I guess not.
