    4K Gaming

    Hello everyone!

So I want to build a new gaming pc to replace my old one, and I've been wondering how much it takes to run modern games at 4k with 30+ fps.

I ended up looking to :

    Cpu : Intel I7 4790k
Gpu : Nvidia Gtx 980 ti
    Ram : 16 gb ddr3
    MB : ASRock z97 extreme6
    PSU : 750W

So is this enough or do I have to replace something?

    Thanks.

You may want to wait a couple months for intels new skylake CPU's to come out and add a 2nd 980 Ti in there if you want playable framerates in games at 4K

    Thanks for replying.

    Yeah 4k with 2160p

    I have few questions.
How many fps i might get with the previous build?

Also I heard about Nvidia's Pascal gpus.
Are they wroth waiting for or gtx 980 ti is enough?

or lower resolutions? because unfortunately "4k" is thrown around mindlessly so it makes it hard when you want to specify
Eh, I find it easier to just list the resolution. If I had to use short terminology I'd go with DCI 4k and UHD 4k.

That said, there's only 'three'(more like two, LGs are pretty much the same) models that I know of that have that resolution, two LG and one Eizo.

    or

    Eizo 318-4k

Good luck with the latter, it's a 100% professional monitor that is meant for well... professionals.

They're all wide gamut and thus has that issue of oversaturation unless you use the sRGB emulation.

14/16nm node which both the next AMD/Nvidia ones are slated as is going to come out next year at some point probably second half, so kind of have to wait. Worth it or not is really dependent on how much performance and how much you're willing to pay.

What he means is that people talk about UHD using "4K" as nomenclature.

Just like Remilia said, DCI "4k" is 4096 x 2160 while UHD is 3840 x 2160 and is probably what you're looking for.

As you can see, both are "2160p" with different aspect ratios.

    One thing of note:

I hope your PSU isn't some no-name brand 750w... you're going to be demanding a lot from your computer and buying some expensive hardware, your power supply should not be cheap by any means. Something akin to eVGA, SeaSonic, or Antec would be a great and safe bet. 80+ Bronze or higher is highly advised. (Frankly 750w is more than you'll need, but it's a safe bet, if you want to ever go SLI, overclock, or add more HDDs/fans.)
