I have a feeling this is gonna be another The Dark Below.

But I can't prove it as that page isn't loading and I can't remember which legal Act stipulates their closed days.
You're not wrong. Filing dates are generally changed to the next business day (though there are some examples of them not, I have seen a few with filing dates on Saturdays, going back a few months). Submission dates are perfectly fine on weekends though, and there's examples abound. Given that the 'report' is internally generated (and presumably not intended for public viewing, ever), and the internal system would need to keep track of dates, I don't see a real problem with the internal report history giving the 25th as a 'filing date'. After all, when you scroll down to the history, it just states 'Application submitted' with a published date of 25th July 2015.

In fact, going through this report again (and verifying some of the dates given for other trademarks, something I'd only briefly looked at before), they seem to be inconsistently applying the weekend/business day rule even for Blizzard products.

Lastly, application submissions aren't shown on the journal (online database) until they've been accepted for examination. You can have the examination delayed upon request.

It doesnt sound like a WoW expansion title but it could be a title for something warcraft related like a book or film.

I haven't seen any solid proof here that couldn't be explained by either the OP or someone looking into trademark applications.
After spending the better part of the entire day looking into it, and 5 phonecalls to IPONZ about general trademark registration information.. I can't disprove the OP as a hoaxer. I can't prove the 'TM' is legit either though. I'm hoping more comes to light overnight. I've said it before, but if it is a hoax, it is masterfully done. There's no way to disprove it yet.

Under the terms of the 'trademark', no it can't. It's online video game software. Doesn't have to be WoW, but it can't be a book or film.

That's not what their hours page shows

    http://www.iponz.govt.nz/cms/contact...fice-is-closed

In accordance with section 223 of the Patents Act 2013, section 188 (1) of the Trade Marks Act 2002 and section 45(1) of the Designs Act 1953, the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand is open everyday except the following Official closed days:

    All Saturdays and Sundays
    *snipped for length*

Applications and documents for Patents, Trade Marks, or Designs that are submitted online on an open day will receive that day as a filing date if they are submitted no later than 11.59pm.

Applications and documents submitted online on a day when the Office is closed will receive the date of the next open day as the official filing date regardless of the date of submission.

If the deadline for filing an application or document falls on a day when the Office is closed, then the application or document will be filed on the next open day.
Which is exactly what the case numbers you've quoted to me shows. They show submission dates of either the Saturday or Sunday but official filing dates of the Monday / Tuesday.

The Council of Glades documents show it being filed & published on the 25th , a Saturday , a day that according to NZ law they are officially closed on making it illegal for them to process the filing on that date.

I have yet to see any example trademark cases refuting this.

It's leak season and people are desperate.

I'm sure if someone didn't use Wrathful Licking in an example earlier everyone would be swearing up and down on their mother's grave that Wrathful Licking was the new World of Warcraft to be released (in one week too!)

Accepting the premise that this is an internally generated report, generated on the Sunday by someone who works for IPONZ: If the application was received in the system on Saturday 25th of July, the internal filing date, as in the date it was added to their files, most certainly could be the date of receipt. I would presume that the public filing date would be changed once the trademark was accepted for examination.

And I certainly have seen a few Saturday filing dates, though it's been a bloody long day and I don't remember which they were. After dinner, I'll go back again and look for them.

I just don't see the OP, if they faked this all, missing the filing date. There's many, many other things they could've fucked up on. The client reference ID being duplicated is, as we've acknowledged, meaningless. The filing date can be explained away - especially when you factor in that IPONZ can delay the examination of a trademark upon request.
Hell, I see the name being more of a reason for this to be fake than anything I've checked in the document. And even then, well, we've had strange names in the past.

Remember when Mists of Pandaria sounded bad, well this title is exactly the same. Nobody believed in Mists and then it was real. lols

This title sounds awkward enough to be an actual expansion title, so I wouldn't deny it just yet.

Yes but people also were ''certain'' that some trademarks were definitely were not an expansion, when they later turned out to be. In short, you can never be sure, except for some obvious fake leak ofcourse. But this isn't that obvious of a fake leak. Could be true, could also be false. I think the latter but I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be true.

Also, this is fun to discuss and the hype train gets going a bit, even if it turns out to be false. People come around here everyone who thinks it's true/false is a retard and this topic is filled with 65 pages of nonsense, forget they are, kind of, contributing to the same nonsense aswell, with even more nonsense whining about nonsense. So ye, they're kind of worse off imo. If you don't like it, there's the door -------->

Yes people tend to forget stuff they clearly didn't like to be true. Btw, even WoD wasn't believed by a lot, as with all the expansions.

Yeah, this is my problem with the whole thing. We don't know what internal procedure is, after submitting the trademark through an automated system it could very well show up in the internal database with a filing date of the day it was submitted, but not being processed and actually filed until the next day the office is open. The report being generated on a Sunday (unless OP edited all the instances to mention Sunday) reinforces this.

However, if OP was trying to fake the whole thing, he could have very well just exported a PDF of search results based on Blizzard, copy paste the WoD entry, remove & change some stuff and change the filing date to the 25th and then change the "document generated" date to the 26th.

Bluspacecow's research is definitely making this whole thing seem fake, though.

EDIT: What is also interesting, is that some of the previous trademark were "filed" on a weekday but show "TM App submitted" in the history log on a weekend day.

Well The Dark Below was trademarked in the same format around this time of year 2 years ago before WoD was even announced or leaked and people were 'certain' that it was the next WoW expansion even when the trademark never went any further than filing before disappearing. Then cue 3 months of people outright refusing that TDB was not a WoW expansion and that everyone else who thought otherwise were fools. Plus when The Dark Below was trademarked Destiny had pretty much reached the end of it's development and was getting ready for release and now it's third "content" pack is in the same situation so they could be looking to the next one already.

Also I mean that in this sense it's looking like what happened with The Dark Below and that some people are not going to give this 'leak' a rest and wait until Gamescom to see if anything is actually going to be announced there and instead annoy people for months with claims it is real. Same thing also nearly happened with the EoA trademark from last year but didn't thankfully.

Shows a lead time of up to 15 days from when it's applied for till when it's processes for examination.

Gamescom is before that so I would advise against paying the money for a search report to be done. I would play the waiting game until Gamescom.

I admit to be a little disappointed at people for not doing this level of research *before* posting.

Did we learn nothing from previous trademark debates ?

That highly depends if it was not filed already in the EU and US.

If the EU or US TM is near approval then all the other regions will be speed approved within a week after that approval.

I've done this research and more. I've spoken to IPONZ several times today, who confirmed that they can delay the examination process on request, even. There's literally no way to determine whether it (the 'trademark') is valid or not. However, a search should determine if the trademark was even in the system for processing though, as I was told that duplicate trademark applications are automatically rejected. Which means that a search for validity should demonstrate whether it is in the system or not.
