Honestly I don't have a huge dog in the fight re: shadow bolt vs (drain life, malefic grasp, drain soul) as normal filler ...

but for execute, I want nothing other than Drain Soul.

As it happens, i always felt Warlocks regardless of spec used a bit of everything from every tree, because why not. So SB never felt out of place, it was good gameplay; making sense and not losing 0.0001% of damage aren't as important as that.
Huh? Every Warlock took talents to support shadow bolt. It wasn't random picking talents from each tree.

Been playings since the beginning, prefer MG but since that isn't much of an option then DS it is for Affliction.

Drain life. The green visual along with the mechanic is how I imagine affliction, it fits the theme perfectly in my opinion. I dislike both drain soul and malefic grasp.

i'd take shadow bolt just for the mobility factor although i like the 1 spell for each occasion
sb when target > 20% or on the move
    DS target <20%
