    USB devices don't work

This just started happening abruptly on my desktop. The mouse wouldn't move and I found out no other USB devices would work on the computer. When plugged in, they usually light up so they are receiving power, but Windows doesn't recognize them at all. I even reformatted and the mouse wouldn't work during windows installation setup so I know for sure it's not a software issue.

I went into the BIOS and checked USB support and compatibility and everything is enable (plus I never changed them to cause this to begin with). I tried different mice and devices on every USB port on the computer (these devices work on my other computer just fine). Is it likely that the motherboard is trashed? Everything else about the computer is still working just fine, except the USB ports.

Sounds like you need a new motherboard.
