Since Star Trek, I always wondered where the "Sonic Showers" where, I mean with the need to conserve fresh clean drinking water, I would think it would have happened by now before a Holodeck, or Transporter, but looks like this dude has an idea, what do you think?

oily hair and dirt arent going to make you unhealthy

regular showers/baths are nothing more than a social nicety

smelling nice can be achieved any number of ways and since the large majority of the population doesnt ever actually get dirty the large majority can abstain from showers altogether

assuming they dont care about the social contract

That's simply not true, at least on a societal level. If it's just a few people then it won't really matter so much but improved hygienic conditions are one of the big reasons some really bad diseases are no longer a major problems.

Except your body is going to be covered in fecal bacteria as well as anything else you come in contact with. Since most people touch parts of themselves at varying times this probably means you are also ingesting that bacteria. A week may not be so bad, an entire year and you're going to be exposing yourself to some nasty bacteria you could have avoided.
