S.M.A.R.T Status bad .... Please help

So let me explain the situation.

Few weeks ago I was repairing another computer and I put it's harddrive inside my own to backup the files and even though I removed the drive after I've been getting an error msg on startup that says "invalid partition" though I just hit the escape key and my computer boots normally without further error.

However today I started recieving the S.M.a.r.t Status error and while I can still hit Escape and bypass it and the computer seems to run normal. (This error is on the main drive housing my operating system)

I've already updated both my Bios and my internal storage controller drivers.
The Data does not seem to be damamged (using Smart Defrag4 pro - came bundled with Advanced system care pro)

In short I would rather not replace this drive as I just did a fresh install of windows 10 and and reinstalled 4 years worth of games/programs and I don't have the money to upgrade to a Solid state drive just yet.

If it makes any difference the Drive is a Seagate 1tb Ide and the motherboard is a Asus p8z68-v Pro gen3
I also don't know simply because the drive itself isn't putting off the random click sound as most failing drives do.

Make sure your data is backed up while it is not corrupted (and you can still access it) and prepare to buy a new HDD. Bad SMART test result doesn't mean a failure will happen imminently, but you should make sure that if and when the drive fails, you aren't screwed.

    This ^^^

SMART alerts generally means that the drive is going to fail at some point in the near future. The purpose of the alerts is to give you time to back things up and get a new drive.

Is there any chance it could be wrong, It is possible that the Sata cable was knocked loose or damaged when I was messing around with the other drive, it also seems suspicious considering I started recieving the Bad partition message the very same day yet I've seen no evidence of a bad partition other than that one message.

Sure, but I wouldn't stake the contents of my drive on that.

I wouldn't bet on it. SMART is internal to the drive and wouldn't be affected by a loose cable.

Install something to read the SMART attributes (I personally like CrystalDiskInfo) and see what exactly it's complaining about.
