my furniture was shaking a bit once when they were doing road work outside my house.
it was a mild annoyance i have to say.
I've never felt an earthquake before. I don't know if it's possible for that to happen in Calgary.
I live in Chile, son. The country got hit a couple of weeks ago with an 8 richter + tidal waves, in 2012 with an 8.3, and in 2010 with an 8.8 plus tsunami. Trust me when I tell you that for most people it's business as usual until 5.9 richter. Once it hits 6.0, everyone assesses if the next shake increases in strength. If it does, then you will see movement towards a safe place and once it stops shaking people will go outside and chat about it. If it doesn't, it's business as usual.share your stories of being in earthquakes, do you like them? hate them?
At 8 you are worried, and can't really walk so you wait in a safe area. Then you go out and chat about it.
At 8.5 you pray to a god of your choice. You might choose one there and then. Nobody will judge you.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
