Ok, so answer my question. Why would you persecute these people instead of helping them? Why would you isolate them to the point that they cannot or will not seek any help? Give them a safe place to talk about it and vent about it. Let them get it out in the open so they can start the healing process. Its like any addiction, you have to admit it in order to heal from it and to become stronger. Right now, they cannot admit it for fear of becoming condemned by everyone.

If its damaging and harmful to try and suppress it, then try to understand it and help them work through it so they wont harm someone. Just having someone to talk to if they feel they are close to slipping could help.

she also admitted masturbating with her younger sister in the same bed as her when Dunham was in her late teens

Because having sex with children has damaging effects. Where as two adults having gay sex when they know they're both gay is fine. One potentially fucks up a child for life the other doesn't stahp.

I would only give them suppressing drugs in the most severe of cases, but dude was it that hard to reach that conclusion...
