1. Elect the right officials
2. Propose an amendment to the constitution
3. Ratify the amendment
4. Legislate
5. Enforce the new laws

At which point the video takes jabs at Australia's gun laws and goes into the impossibility of the government being able to take people's guns, starting the next Civil War, etc.

Mass shootings are about the worst thing you can use to argue for gun control. Try second degree murder, try suicide, all things which actually have been shown to decrease with improved gun legislation.

No it wont. Trying to remove people's access to a constitutional right based on people's opinions will not go over well for starters. Plus you must have missed the part where every mass shooter (like every other criminal's) family and friends seems to be shocked that their son did something like this and say they never saw any signs of trouble.

A constitutional amendment to change gun laws will not happen anytime resembling soon, and quite likely never. And frankly it's rather wasteful to even spend the time pushing for that as a valid idea.

What needs to happen is one of three things:
1) Propose legislation that does not trigger slippery slope fears and does not create burdens on lawful gun owners. (This is nearly impossible to do with anything resembling meaning reform)
2) Do a give-and-take. For instance -- in the same legislation remove gun free zones, but also implement universal enhanced background checks.
3) Have enough violence occur in a short enough period of time that even the reluctant gun supporters admit change is needed.

Alternately you could go the extra credit route -- solve the issues of poverty, education, and mental health so that gun violence isn't used as a solution to these issues.
