One - You may have selected a different region before logging in. Like Hearthstone and Heroes, Diablo is divided into different regions, and characters are NOT shared between them. Check which region you have selected in the launch app.
Two - You may have had your account compromised. Not sure why, as there is no profit in compromising a D3 account anymore, but its a possibility.
One of those two happened, I'm thinking its likely your region.
