Russian intelligence chief: IS may invade Central Asia

    http://www.pakwatan.com/pakistan-news.php?id=10229

28/10/15 WEB DESK: Russian intelligence has warned of an increased risk of Taliban or Islamic State fighters invading Central Asia.

FSB director Alexander Bortnikov said in comments carried by Russian news agencies on Wednesday that a concentration of Taliban fighters, some of whom had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group, at Afghanistan’s northern border make the risk of invasion tangible.

Afghanistan shares a porous border with the former Soviet republics of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which has been a source of drugs coming into Russia and is a longstanding worry of Moscow’s.

Putin earlier this month called the situation in Afghanistan “close to critical” and called on other ex-Soviet nations to be prepared to act together to repel a possible attack.

Of course the Russians are saying "ISIS may invade Central Asia" - their next step will be to arm the Taliban in order to "fight ISIS"... and then they'll laugh like it's 1980. (And meanwhile idiotic US armchair generals and talking heads will whine that Russia isn't "playing fair"....)

The once-significant language of an earlier era has had the meaning sucked right out of it, the better to serve as camouflage for a kleptocratic feeding frenzy in which both establishment parties participate with equal abandon" (Taking a break from the criminal, incompetent liars at the NSA, to bring you the above political observation, from The Archdruid Report.)

I'm guessing this will be a pretext to annex a few neighbors, for security purposes.

Some expert on this news show I listen to say 75% of the Taliban have joined ISIS. I don't know if these Taliban are staying in Afghanistan or they are traveling to Syria.

i doubt the 75% figure, but I'm certain they are referring to the Taliban groupings in Afghanistan, they are much more like local militias than some grand order.

I agree that that "Omg! ISIS!" might very well be used by Putin & Co as an excuse to annex (de facto or de jure) any intransigent Central Asia nations, but I don't understand what you're implying about "US States".
Good or bad, Ghani's government is a US client / puppet; and given the state of US-Russian relations, I've no doubt the Russians would find it hilarious to be arming the Taliban (using ISIS as a cover) against a government the US is actively and directly supporting.

Most likely moving to where they are needed next. Might be Syria, or the next target.

Where are the east-Asian muslims in all this? They don't seem involved or concerned.
