Trust me, you're not the only one. I put my 2 weeks in last week because I despise my current job with a burning passion. I don't need the stress from it, if I keep stressing myself out like I do now, i'll probably end up getting diverticulitis and i'm freaking 20!
Also quitting because I just don't like the line of work i'm in currently. I work at a Automotive center, first started out washing cars (easy, but ended up staying late a lot), then I started taking vehicles apart which was hard because no-one taught me shit. I mean most things are rather self explanatory, but some things just don't come off as easy as you want them to!
Now i'm doing parts (if I were going to stay longer, I'd probably get it as a permanent position) but the Estimators constantly fuck up and I have to go around and clean up after them. The parts job is rather easy but it becomes tedious when you constantly get parts that have damage. You'd be surprised by how many new parts you get for your personal vehicle that come in messed up. So i'm stuck re-ordering stuff and constantly calling vendors to pick them up.
I'm going to be leaving this Friday and i'll be back to the nocashflowlife but with about 7-8 months of work experience, I believe I should be able to find a new one rather quickly.
Good for you and good luck. Nobody should subject themselves to an employer that doesn't respect them. Be sure to seek employment in weird places.
I worked as a analyst for a collection center during my last semester in college. Was pretty much my job to forecast call volume and make micromange collector's breaks lunches, when they come in etc. Maybe at times extend a customer's credit line.
Problem was the employer didn't respect anyone. Hours/policies changed at a whim (and despite have work emails we never got notified of changes; just had to hear it through the grapevine.)
I had enough when they announced they were reducing 2nd/3rd shift wage premiums in a few short weeks. I just got mad and stopped showing up to work.
I managed to find a job in the last place I would look: an temp accounting gig. I've loved every minute of it so far.
My job is literally "stand in this spot for a few hours, and say hello to people".
It's so infuriating how fulfilling it feels. Like, I'm sitting there, seeing things that need to be done, but I'm technically not allowed to move unless a manager asks me to.
What the heck. And then, half the departments, despite hiring so many new people, are still understaffed most the time.
