In my day, it might also have seemed less greedy to take a random bag instead of grabbing my favorites. There was a lot of that emphasis on what 'good' kids were supposed to do -- take the <foodstuff> closest to you or you'll look greedy, take the smaller slice of something, don't grab the very best thing in an assortment.
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.
