Saudi Arabia and Turkey back alot of islamists in Syria civil war yet we don't see the term "Saudi-backed rebels" or turkish-backed rebels whenever news of Syria appear on the media. but the term "Iran backed rebels" regardless of it's authenticity and the actual amount of support Houthis receive from Iran, is used on nearly EVERY news article about the yemen war. how can Iran be backing Houthis if Yemen is besieged and is under naval blockade? they can't land planes on Yemen either, the only way to support houthis is by smuggling weapons into Yemen via the sea, and how big can Iran's contribution be to Houthis via smuggling?
If Iran is actually smuggling tons of ammunition and weapons into Yemen then one has to question Arab coalition's shitty military capabilities and wonder how Iran, who is militarily inferior and possesses obsolete arsenal of weapons ESPECIALLY naval equipment, can evade the coalition's navy which has top notch military equipment and weapons. ironically Saudi Arabia is Yemen's only land neighbor and shares the border with them, if any sort of big smuggling is happening it's most likely to come from Saudi Arabia itself.
Houthis and Iranians have no common interest that guarantees long-term alliance, this has been said in various articles and blogs yet the media insists to paint Iran as the boogeyman in the Yemen conflict. contrary to popular belief Iran does not benefit from a Houthi victory in Yemen as much as they would benefit from Assad's victory. most of Iran's military and financial aid goes into Syria and Iraq, Yemen is a mess that Saudis themselves created and now instead of trying to come up with a solution they branded Iran as the mastermind behind Yemen uprising while it was their own fuckup that lead to the uprising in the first place.
What's annoying me is that even the western media keeps parroting the "Iranian backed houthis" everytime there's news of Yemen civil war. If the media can label a country as evident backers of a terrorist/rebel group based on assumptions then why don't they also say "Saudi-backed islamists" or "Turkish-backed ISIS" whenever there's news of Syrian conflict?
