What inanimate object, if given sentience would have the most interesting stories?

just about any object you could think of really. i've always wanted the ability to look at an item and see its history, all the things it has been through. every now and then, i find random things in my yard, old lighters, bottlecaps, used bullet casings, it's wonderful, and kind of sad, to think about the people that owned them.

in this case, it would be neat to speak to the sphinx, learn about egypt as it was in the days it was built.
