Here in the EU/Germany we got some pretty straight data protection laws, one of the needs every company to hand me the info which personal data of me they got and where they got it from. Because there are pretty high penalties and good support instruments to get this informations it works like a charm.

Is there something like that in the US?

Background: I am the owner of a company and from time to time my mail gets sold by some data-services.. as long as it are EU/german companies it's easy to fix with 2-3 mails. By now i somehow seem to have gotten into an US based data pool. It's not like i get Viagra- and pornspam, but pretty constant offers and personal b2b contact mails from companies that should not have my mailadress at all. I would like to stop that before it's to late.

Thanks in advance.
