"Due process" only applies to court action; unless guys are being declared guilty sans trial or defense in criminal court, they still have due process.

If you're complaining that the accusation is harmful, then you're going to have to explain how you justify restricting the freedom of the press, because thats the ONLY way to stop the press reporting on the accusation.

If you're complaining that its unfair that private entities can react as they wish to such an accusation, you'll have to justify THAT restriction on people's rights.

I'm not saying its good for the mob to tar and feather someone over a baseless accusation, but the only way to prevent that is to harshly restrict people's freedoms, which I can't support.

If the problem persist you can limit access to the court proceedings too, or give lawyers the option to petition for that. Personally also a fan of semi-anonimysing names in the press (by law), at least until a verdict is reached, to protect ALL people involved in the legal system.

That way, you can at least sue for slander if you are declared not guilty.

They can do that all day. My vote is for them to be open to civil suit for slander if evidence that they falsified the accusation comes out.

There should be no reason in hell I can wake up and accuse you of a crime that will ruin your career and damage your reputation and be immune to all recourse.

If a rape happens the justice system can handle the case. But if you wanna take it upon yourself to blow it up and put everyone in your business then you need to be afraid of lawsuits. If someone was raped I have no idea why they would want to blo up social media but keep it out of the court. Imagine if all things worked that way?
